I was wondering if somebody could explain how google analytics work. I know it uses java script to track visitors... but what if user has javascript disabled, will analytics track those visitors?
if javascript is disabled GA will not collect data; otherwise, GA would have given the ratio of javascript disable vs enable, which he doesn't; btw: some websites use a tag like <noscript> for such cases;
We find that in our stats very few sites don't track properly in google's analytics. Especially if you're doing PPC with google, I highly recommend doing analytics too. Just setup your account, and add the java script code to your site. You'll be glad you did.
Not many people disable javascript so Analytics will give you plenty of information to get a feel for where your hits are coming from and how users navigate your site.
ChiefLee, thank you for your help. I thought so as well, GA gives lower number... but it's good as in reality I have more visitors. And if I need to do some checks on my website I can just disable javascript and GA will not track my visits and keep my stats clean and tidy.
GA will not track visitors that have java script disabled if you would like another hit counter try statcounter.com I use both so I can compare they always are showing diffrent amounts of visitors.
I used statcounter for a while, seemed pretty good. I think the number of people that will have javascript disabled is very small - I wouldnt worry about it.
I just downloaded GA script today on a few pages of my site. Does hitCounter show reports on the bounce rate?
doesnt your webhost have stats enabled? i can see visitors, their browser types where they came from etc regardless of java script on/off. but i cant think of a decent reason to turn of java script.
