I would disagree that something like the Hudson plane crash and what saved them is not scientifically provable. It's pretty clear that the pilot's skill and cool head is what saved those people. God wasn't flying the plane, a man was. From the moment he knew they were in trouble, every decision made after that... every movement, every action, was determined by decisions made by those 2 men. Not God..... unless anyone would like to challenge the whole notion that men have free will? (that's a good topic I'm gonna start that ) Every movement of the pilot's hand translated into a specific action within the plane's navigation system just as it was built to, by men. We could get into deep physics debates here but my primary point is that I don't think there is any argument that the pilots' actions saved those people that day.... Everything else is subjective circumstance (gusts of wind, atmospheric pressure, etc) but specifically what those pilots did was their own decisions generated of their own free will and is provably the difference between what happened and a catastrophic loss of life.
I never said it wasn't. In fact, I agree with the entire rest of your post. I would still call it a miracle. I haven't done the research, but I believe this is the first water ditch of a commercial passenger jet that had a single survivor. Considering that, yeah, miraculous.
Well i have done the research, it took 15 seconds, and i know that your belief regarding the survival rate of crash landings on water is absolutely wrong. Considering that, yeah, not particularly miraculous at all. it's actually quite normal.
And also why have the greta people or religious icons all been from the past? An interesting argument could be that with our increase in knowledge is a direct cause for lack of faith with is essesntially he centerpice of religions and god fearing societies
This seems very true. The more we can explain from our day to day life, the less we feel the need to accept possibilities from the unknown. We are likely evolving into a society of "know it alls", not allowing for explanations we don't know about. Perhaps one day in the not so distant future, the only remaining religious will be scientists. So it is. Wikipedia actually references a more complete list of water ditches and crashes from which people survived. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_landing I'm not sure why you bolded a quote about the survivability of airline crashes when we are talking about survivability of water based crashes. Of the three crashes linked to by your reference, one was the "Miracle on the Hudson", one was a water ditch into water that was one meter deep. The third was also ditch close to land with a 30% survival rate. If you want to back your claim that a water ditch of a commercial airliner into icy water with a 100% survival rate is "normal". Perhaps you should find a new source of information. The wiki link I provided is a good starting point.
I don't need to. In fact, I only need to show one instance of a single person surviving a crash landing on water to prove your un-researched belief that the Hudson crash was "the first water ditch of a commercial passenger jet that had a single survivor". That was the claim you made, right? Take your defeats like man, it make me uncomfortable to see you thrashing about in vain like a wounded animal every time you get schooled on something basic which you should have researched before asserting.
I love it man. Your presence on this forum is going to keep me here for a very long time (or until I get banned). You are like Hamas constantly picking idiotic conflicts, only to get your ass handed to you by Israel, and when Israel backs off because its such a one sided ass whopping, you declare victory! I just positive rep'd you for the laugh. Keep it up!
It all started back when people had no idea why they were here, so they decided to believe in some greater power which put them there. It still causes wars but people refuse to believe its the cause. Fear
If you want to believe then everything is a miracle, the universe, our lives, humanity. However if you do not want to believe, then nothing is a miracle.
