    Hi everyone,

    What was the highest searched keyword in 2009? I'm thinking of starting a blog and trying to get some longtail traffic around this niche keyword

    The problem with just going after the highest searched keywords is that they are likely quite competitive keywords. You would likely have more success with just targeting niches that actually interest you.

    I can understand your intent. In keyword research, its not all about the search volumes. You have to take into consideration of the keyword competition and then balance that out to see if you can win in the SEO war.
    Maybe you could be right to get long tail keywords surrounding that topic (asssuming you've found the GOLDEN keyword). But i have a feeling that the competition could be equally tough as well. All the best!
