You won't be saying that when the dollar collapses. The US borrows 46 cents for every dollar spent. How do you plan on paying that?

Nice explanation on your other thread. Very interesting how Ford Motors has a productive and exciting work environment. Mismanagement is almost always visible at the "grunt" level of employment for any company. Employees who hate their job are almost always the symptom of much bigger problems within a company. Airlines, where the employees almost always directly interface with customers, are some of the most obvious examples of this.

Regarding opting for manual labor over automation, this has long been a goal of the labor unions, and I thought it was common knowledge. Sure triples the cost of production, but think of all the jobs it creates! All we need is a more protectionist tax setup to keep cars built by automation "competitively" priced, and all will be well.

The health care reform battle is starting to heat up. I am getting concerned about Obama caving to pressure from the health insurance industry. If there's no public option included then health care reform is a failure.

That being said, I'm trying to stay positive and I just donated some money to the campaign against the swift boat lies about health care reform.

On topic: Obama is currently at 63% approval - it has dropped somewhat over the last week or so. And I must say I am somewhat concerned about the direction of the admin. right now. This should be a time when we are moving the country left in a big way and instead Obama seems to be bending over for the wrong people...

Of course we have to realize the immense pressure he must be facing. But... we voted him into office to make these changes, it's his duty to face that pressure and do it.

I'm surprised that so many people are drawn into this soap opera form of politics, mustard, etc.

Republicans would have us with crotch monitors and mind implants for jingoistic loyalty to the national government, while the Democrats would have us pour our savings into debt to "save the country!".

Neither side is worth their weight in fecal matter. If you want change, change that works, remember that there is still a Libertarian party. All it needs to succeed is support, and information dissemination. But, both sides, Republicans and Democrats label everything they do not agree with, and for them both, Libertarian "crazies" are the scariest thing in existence, with their radical ideas of personal freedom and wealth, and the separation of church and state along with that oh-so controversial and evil idea of following the Constitution...

...I mean, who would be crazy enough to follow the law?

Obama's approval rating will soon fall into the mid 40's

The latest Rasmussen poll shows the Republicans and Democrats are tied on the issue of which party can best do a better job on the economy at the same time that Obama gets at 56 percent job approval rating.

Only 44 percent feel that the Democrats are best at handling the economy (as opposed to 43 percent for the Republicans). So about 13 points’ worth of voters approve of Obama but doubt his party’s ability to handle the economy.

For the first time - Gallup poll showed that more ppl was against abortion. I find this very interesting. I thought today that Obama could have the same problem - and here it is.

I personally like the guy - but all this wreckless spending - it's over the top.

Not like the last elected President of the United States did any better. Elect me in 2020. At least you know what I stand for. World Domination, Empire, and Personal Freedom.

Obama is just as bad as Bush, well the spending is much worst, I think if the economy doesn't pick up, you can say bye to Obama and the democrats and I don't care what the polls show today.

Bush tries to tackle social security reform after the 2004 elections and couldn't get it through. By 2020 social security will be in trouble.

Remember that the government is more than the Prseident. In 2001 the Republicans had a tie in the Senate 50-50 and then lost the majority with the dection of Jefferies. Later, the Democrats took control of the Senate in 2004 and the House in 2006.

The Obama is spending a lot more money than Bush meme is nothing but nonsense. Bush is the one that pushed this country into debt. Obama is just trying to dig us out of the hole that Bush put us in. Remember it was a Democrat, Bill Clinton, who actually managed to balance the budget.

Remember that Dick Cheney said: "Reagan proved deficits don't matter."

    ---

You know what's really amazing to me about the whole torture debate? That people aren't going absolutely nuts about the real truth of the matter: The Bush admin. didn't push for torture out of some sense of patriotism. Out of some sense that they were going to protect America. That had nothing to do with it. Even these idiots were well aware that torture does not work and it never has worked for getting good information. It only works to get FALSE information that can be used in propaganda. In this case the false information they wanted for propaganda purposes was a link between Iraq and 9/11. Think about this for a moment and if you are not pissed off about this, if you do not think Bush/Cheney belong in jail for this then you are insane: Bush/Cheney advocated the use of torture to attain false confessions of a nonexistent link between 9/11 and Iraq to be used as justification for invading Iraq.

The entire debate up to now has been nothing but diversionary nonsense. The truth is torture was never used to protect America, it was used to try and attain a justification for an unjust war. Bush/Cheney are war criminals.

How can you say Bush put us in debt if there was a deficit before he was elected. the only president to pay off the deficit was Andrew Jackson. and how do you dig us out of a deficit by spending, borrowing and printing more money. even the CBO numbers come nothing close to the Obama spending.

What flavor kool-aid are you drinking tonight? ;)

The While the White House is orecasting a $2 trillion deficit this year and Obama has raised the 2010 deficit estimate to $1.26 Trillion

The deficit would be 12.9 percent of the economy, the largest since 1945.

Bill Clinton wised up real quick after the Republican Revolution of 1994 and brought in Dick Morris. Hillary was running the show the first two years and it was a disaster.

that would be about 120% of GDP. the scary thing is that in order to raise more capital the fed will have to offer higher rates to nations like China, since we already have sold them so many bonds and many other nations are in the market for selling to China. the U.S. will have to offer higher rates to compete, this will make rates on ALL loans higher

I think the real scary thing is that even China is looking at alternatives from the bonds. They lost enough buying USA bonds I guess.
