a month or 2 ago somone posted about stumbleupon traffic.. i had never heard about it, but after reading the post i signed up and entered my site. the next day i had a huge spike in traffic from them, but it was gone after a day or two.. then out of the blue for the last several days, i've been getting 500-800 stumblers per day - about 10% of my total traffic.

is anyone else getting this percentage from Stumbleupon, and should i worry? (i'm always worrying about something..)

hes worried that hes getting too many users from stumbleupon and they might give him click fraud or something like that i think.

if your getting a big jump you should notify google, and perhaps show where the increased traffic is coming from.

Posted here because my question is if Google will consider this traffic source 'invalid' (a'la Myspace) and ban me - hence the "is it safe" question..

Thank you Klown.. you beat me to it..

the traffic amounts to about 10%-13% of my total traffic - and i havnt had an increase in CTR.. if anything, it's gone down, right with my eCPM ..

ok.. one less thing to worry about i guess..

Why in the world would you sign up to get artificial traffic for a price? Untargeted traffic, at that. Boggles the mind why you thought this was a good idea...

Uhh.. JB.. you obviously dont know what Stumbleupon is.. it's not artifical traffic, and it is VERY targeted - not just to the site, but right down to the individual page. It boggles the mind why you would post such a harsh comment without even knowing WTF you're talking about..

That happens to me all the time-- a couple of days of a lot of traffic to a page, maybe 800 visitors from stumble upon, then it dies down, then again to another page. It's just how pages of interest float around there. The goodnews is, each time one of them ads you to their list, it's a link from a new site, since each stumbler has their own subdomain, which Google generally counts as seperate sites. I think it would take a much bigger jump than that. I've even been farked a couple of times and didn't contact Google- which I should have- 60,000 visitors in a weekend compared with 6000 normally. But no problems.

If you were so sure about it, why all the worry, then? But whatever.

I was unsure about what Google would think about it - I had no doubts about how targeted the traffic is.

All bashing and chest pounding aside, you should check it out. It does generate decent traffic, which is very targeted - AND it seems everyone agrees that it's "G safe" ..
