Sure you can but they will not include management and after all, these accounts are hosted on bigger servers. Most sites are better under semi-dedicated solutions rather than a VPS.

not really, if its a Unmanaged VPS then you can get it from 10-15bucks a month. Performance is also good. Its ideal if you want a machine for backups

Anyway semi-dedicated hosting cannot be compared to VPS unmanaged.

But we also have to keep in mind when traffic increases, the CPU & memory usage also goes up. so on shared platform, you can't host such high traffic sites.

There your Semi-Dedicated seems a good fit

 

its 25$ a month but I rather buy that than a semidedicated because I get full control over the server. I can install what ever the hell I want. (not going to tell anyone where this is). Though anyways, this is good for beginners not for people with very high traffic sites(around 200-300 ppl online at once)

You shouldn't get root access - it's still a shared account, though a quite big one.

 

SSH access is provided, root access can only be provided on virtual private servers and dedicated servers.

this isnt even a big shared hosting package. My vps costs $6 a month and i get 15gb space and 500GB bandwidth. I've seen lots of ppl offer VPS with this much for a little more but still under $10. $17 is a total ripoff no matter what.
