YPN Having same kind of effect as Gmail?

Remember back in the day when Gmail was new and it was impossible to get an invite? Will YPN invites begin to look like gmail as more and more people are accepted into ypn, do invites on ypn work like how gmail invites do? If so when do you think that ypn invites will be devalued so to speak?

Do all YPN accounts have invites in them? I've had mine for about a year now..but I don't see any active invites available in it.

Gmail's invite system was just to get people excited about getting a Gmail, since now they're just as popular as they would be without the invite system. However YPN are actually BETA testing stuff, so they don't want as many people using it.

So how are YPN account holders given an invite? is it completely random?

I understand it that when you apply, if they accept you, you are then given an invite to join...I could be wrong, but this is the way it works. Also, I beleive they sent out invites in the earlier stages of BETA to get people involved. This is the reason people try to buy them, so they don't have to go through the application process.

I dont find that their advertiser network is vast enough to be effective on very specific websites.
I tried it on some of my sites but it wasnt very effective.

Well it wouldn't be at the moment since only people who are invited can publish ads, which isn't many people. When they come out of BETA/invite system then there will be just as many publisher's as Adsense.

I think YPN will still pay better then Adsense even when it does go public.

I also think they will, because that way more and more publishers will go to them and more advertisers will go to them

I have had YPN for awhile now, and I have never received an invite to give out. It is my understanding that the only invites are coming from Yahoo itself, and I don't think they are giving out any more invites for the time being. That being said, I don't think a comparison to Gmail is really fair, as they were two completely different invite systems. With Gmail there were other users sending out the invites, creating much more of a buzz IMO. YPN is still trying to get up and running at full capacity, and more interested in created a good solid program, rather than the publicity.
