Hi I just watched this video regarding twitter and Google. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9r8zHaIjRtw Everytime he answers he explicitly states "we do not do anything special in the SERP". Ok we can agree on that in the SERPS. But I bet G is having special cases for Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other high PR social sites when it comes to NO FOLLOW links. I think that even it's a NO FOLLOW link on Twitter and Facebook it still counts a LOT. What is your experience or what do you think? Thanks
Matt Cutts is one of the biggest liars to show his face online. He has no choice but to spread mis-information so that webmasters cannot reverse engineer Googles' algorithm.. I've caught him in a few lies and posted about them on my blog.
Me too Google pays my bills, pays my rent, and pays for me to buy my family anything they need. Seeing Matt with hist cats warmed my heart
Hmmm... I think it could be that google are favouring twitter as they are rumoured to be interested in buying it.
He's the figure head for Google - he's like Moses delivering the big G's message to the people that care to listen. But you have to take what he says with a pinch of salt, he's embellishing things and downplaying others. If you listen closely you'll realize that everything he says has a bit of truth to it, but is coated in a really sweetened and soft-edged lie. You have to realize that he's not going to reveal everything Google does, because doing so would make it possible for us webmasters to exploit. The other part is that he doesn't always speak with clarity or knowledge on what he's talking about - he is after all part of the spam team, not part of the algorithm. He's a good guy, but realize his loyalties are to Google not to webmasters at the end of the day. In terms of twitter, facebook etc - they don't do anything special. A link spammed in twitter will not get any PR boost directly from twitter. If someone retweets it on another site, that's a different matter - but Twitter doesn't give any link juice directly through tweets. Twitter and YouTube etc can get you traffic but you can't really build backlinks on those site. Facebook uses a lot of seo techniques to get indexed like having hidden directory pages filled with users who want to be indexed in google (privacy setting).
Matt has to protect google's algorithm and logic, so obviously if he would say something like "we value a lot links from twitter" then everyone in this world would open a twitter and stuff it with links and mess up the rankings logic...
I think the algorithm they use is different from data center to data center, and they always make changes to it, seeing where they can make the most money, if something doesn't work to make the revenue go up, they will change it..
Matt can't give away any real secrets (or really useful) info on the algorithm. Think about it. It would destroy the engine. Guys like me would crash and burn to get on top of every term - hey I already do this - he he ;-)
I'M sure Matt is a nice guy and all. But don't trust the man making a living out of keeping their secrets from being public.
