I recommend you to avoid automate article submission as it would harm your site instead of given positive sign. Place your article on quality article hub such as Ezinearticles. Focus on quality and not quantity. You may consider to use iSnare article distribution service if you really prefer numbers. It's cheap and at least guarantee on the numbers of places your articles will be published.
Just manually submit your articles for better results. Instead of having a good effect to your site, it could harm your site throuh automated submission. You have no control of this, and most of the time, they submit your articles to crap sites. Anyway, Manual submission is still the best!
Aside from this, automatic article submission would not also place your link to the most relevant category of the article directory.. So I think it's really best to submit your article manually so that you can choose the right category that best fit your article..

is manual the way to go for directories as well? I'm using semi-automated system where you get to choose the right category and had some success with it. I'm worried after reading this post that the automatic way many not be the best. Please advise.
