Mine is article directories, then I use Hubpages and Squidoo which I think would fall under social bookmarkings, maybe once or twice I comment on related blogs, posting on related forums, once in a blue moon yahoo answers.

    Thanks for sharing

Mine would be article directories too, but I try to balance that out with forum signatures, blog comments, directory submissions and press releases. I have had success with squidoo & hubpages with another website. So I will likely be creating a network of lenses & hubs for my other sites eventually. I don't really bother with Yahoo answers as it is more trouble than it is likely worth.

Yes, Squiddo is great, I also like to submit to high PR directories and high PR deep link directories in conjunction with articles. I will also build additional pages, like a blogger or blogsome blog related to my keyword topic to have more content to link from.

I use social bookmarking and blog post exchanges as well, to what extent depends on the competetiveness of the keyword phrase. You can check out my free seo book if you want more ideas, link is in my signature.

I am not working with Yahoo Answers for sometime otherwise, I make sure I do a little bit of all methods mentioned in the poll. Right now maximum emphasis is on blog commenting and guest posts.

I wonder why you didn't include directory submission in the list.

Sorry for not including directory submission, honestly I have not done much of it. Which directory (ies) would you recommend?

I honestly thought article directories would be on top, I guess I was mistaken.

    learning something new.

    Thanks everyone for sharing

How do you do press releases. I haven't looked into it yet. Where do traffic come from doing this?

A good healthy mix is best. It has to look natural.

One thing I like about Ezine articles is that other blogs or sites use your articles or feeds to post them in theirs so with one article you may link to several other blogs. Also whenever I post in Hubpages I always get at least three trackbacks sometimes five or more of other blogs posting to mine so it is a very natural process I just get it started with articles.

I have used almost all the methods except link baiting but lost interest in yahoo answers and social bookmarking sites and never continue these methods nowadays...

Well, I mainly focus on article directories which I think contribute the most. The rest like social bookmarking are done sparingly.

The good thing about press releases is that a lot of the sites that republish press releases are trusted, aged domains. Sites like these are tough to get links from, but some of them are willing to republish relevant press releases. The trick is to write something that is actually interesting enough to generate media interest. That's where a press release could pay off big-time...when newspapers or other media pick up the story and are interested enough to write the story from their view. They often link back to you and send a lot of traffic.

Once you have an interesting press release written, it is best to use paid syndication services such as pr.com or prleap.com. A less interesting press release submitted through free sites still generates some quality backlinks, but not nearly as much. It can be very tough to come up with a good press release though.

It is just another good strategy to add to the mix. You want to use multiple strategies to get a broad link profile from many sources.

Articles and new content, mostly via my blog. Then advertising those on social sites. Also high PR directories and sometimes link exchange.
