SRDJAN where do you get your facts from,i guess the protocals. Grow up you fool, israel do not control the media infact they are always being bashed by the media.
Just out of curiosity pretty much everyone thinks Israel has the right to defend themselves, but at what point are they killing too many civilians like right now they are batting like 20 people killed for every terrorist at what point would you guys think its not ok, if they were killing 100 to 1, 1000 to 1, what if they were killing 5,000 civilians to get one terrorist? Would you still support what they are doing?
Why's it wrong? It's showing you what happens during war. War is okay as long as you don't see people getting hurt? Not exactly a balanced view though, you could equally make one about people in Israel getting killed. The problem with the media over here is that they don't actually show the real graphic face of war.
Here's a clue for you... most of those "civilians" that are reported being killed are Hezbollah operatives. Don't be fooled. The "people on the ground" who report these numbers are all Hezbollah people, what do you expect them tol say?
Guys... I would really like to debate here with you, but unfortunatly, I have more important things to do than spreading anti-new-world-order spirit arround here. Anyhow, I'll close my participation in this thread with this post. Regarding media, and tv I'll just quote John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt when they speak of israeli lobby: For the past several decades, and especially since the Six-Day War in 1967, the centrepiece of US Middle Eastern policy has been its relationship with Israel. The combination of unwavering support for Israel and the related effort to spread ‘democracy’ throughout the region has inflamed Arab and Islamic opinion and jeopardised not only US security but that of much of the rest of the world. This situation has no equal in American political history. Why has the US been willing to set aside its own security and that of many of its allies in order to advance the interests of another state? The Lobby’s perspective prevails in the mainstream media: the debate among Middle East pundits, the journalist Eric Alterman writes, is ‘dominated by people who cannot imagine criticising Israel’. He lists 61 ‘columnists and commentators who can be counted on to support Israel reflexively and without qualification’. Conversely, he found just five pundits who consistently criticise Israeli actions or endorse Arab positions. Newspapers occasionally publish guest op-eds challenging Israeli policy, but the balance of opinion clearly favours the other side. It is hard to imagine any mainstream media outlet in the United States publishing a piece like this one. ‘Shamir, Sharon, Bibi – whatever those guys want is pretty much fine by me,’ Robert Bartley once remarked. Not surprisingly, his newspaper, the Wall Street Journal, along with other prominent papers like the Chicago Sun-Times and the Washington Times, regularly runs editorials that strongly support Israel. Magazines like Commentary, the New Republic and the Weekly Standard defend Israel at every turn. Editorial bias is also found in papers like the New York Times, which occasionally criticises Israeli policies and sometimes concedes that the Palestinians have legitimate grievances, but is not even-handed. In his memoirs the paper’s former executive editor Max Frankel acknowledges the impact his own attitude had on his editorial decisions: ‘I was much more deeply devoted to Israel than I dared to assert . . . Fortified by my knowledge of Israel and my friendships there, I myself wrote most of our Middle East commentaries. As more Arab than Jewish readers recognised, I wrote them from a pro-Israel perspective.’ News reports are more even-handed, in part because reporters strive to be objective, but also because it is difficult to cover events in the Occupied Territories without acknowledging Israel’s actions on the ground. To discourage unfavourable reporting, the Lobby organises letter-writing campaigns, demonstrations and boycotts of news outlets whose content it considers anti-Israel. One CNN executive has said that he sometimes gets 6000 email messages in a single day complaining about a story. In May 2003, the pro-Israel Committee for Accurate Middle East Reporting in America (CAMERA) organised demonstrations outside National Public Radio stations in 33 cities; it also tried to persuade contributors to withhold support from NPR until its Middle East coverage becomes more sympathetic to Israel. Boston’s NPR station, WBUR, reportedly lost more than $1 million in contributions as a result of these efforts. Further pressure on NPR has come from Israel’s friends in Congress, who have asked for an internal audit of its Middle East coverage as well as more oversight. To summ up: Loss of evey life is tragic. No mather if the person is from lebanon, israel, romania, pakistan, island or usa. I'm not taking about people we meet everyday, I'm talking about governments and their policies. And double standards. US will need a new war soon, where will they go? Some think Iran, but I personaly think that Iran is a too huge bite for US at the moment. It is quite obvious that this is just a playground for the conflict on a much greater scale. However, US credits regarding their war machinery in that region is slightly loosing on its value in Arab world of oil (which accidently dictates the trends of world economy), especialy after Afganistan & Iraq have been invaded. There is something funny most of the US & UK guys I've talked to in my life: you only see things in black & white. So, if I dissaprove with Israeli or USA politics, does that mean that I support Hezbolah or that I'm a USA hater? For Gods sake no. So, don't twist my words. What has happened to critical thinking? Dissaproving one thing doesn't mean the support for another. Its all about business, oil, money, trade routes, major ports... And will it stop? Open your minds. Freedom forever. Enjoy.
Yea, they should be happy, they are defending themselves. Nobody feels sorry for them, they elect terrorists to government, things like this will happen. Don't like it? STOP FUCKING ELECTING TERRORISTS TO GOVERMENT SEATS AND DONT ALLOW TERRORISTS TO RUN YOUR COUNTRY. k thnx
Why not? Hit a sore spot? Who's responsible for starting the mess *this time?* Why of course, hezbollah and hamas. Lessons learned: bearded mullahs fire rockets and cross lines to kidnap soldiers and there is a price to pay. Wonder if they will learn their lesson this time? Probably not, huh?
Yep, hezbollah's goals are being met and ferret and others are buying right into it. Being cowards, hezbollah and hamas surround themselves with women and children so in turn, they can say "see what these savages have done?" And people buy right into it!
I stopped right there The accusions that US "unwavering" supports Israel is riddicoullus. US may be a good allie with Israel. They might co-operate a little on the millitary front. But the economical support is just a joke. 3 billion dollars a year. That isn't much. Their neighbour Egypt gets 2 billion etc. On the otherhand the money that Egypt gets from US isn't ear market which means that they can buy whatever millitary equiqment they want, while Israel have to buy US made equiqment for the millitary support.
srdjan, it seems like your knowledge of American politics is non existent. Next time you better know what you are quoting before you do so. You only make yourself look like a fool.
Latehorn, since the October War in 1973, Washington has provided Israel with a level of support dwarfing that given to any other state. It has been the largest annual recipient of direct economic and military assistance since 1976, and is the largest recipient in total since World War Two, to the tune of well over $140 billion (in 2004 dollars). Israel receives about $3 billion in direct assistance each year, roughly one-fifth of the foreign aid budget, and worth about $500 a year for every Israeli. This largesse is especially striking since Israel is now a wealthy industrial state with a per capita income roughly equal to that of South Korea or Spain. Population of Egypt: 78,887,007 Population of Israel: 6,352,117 hextraordinary, give some arguments before calling anyone a fool. Rather than that, you will look like George Bush to me, and me & large number of other people are not quite sure in his intelligence. PS. this has started to be really boring. Message me if you wanna talk about it
Let me clue you in, part of this foreign aid given to Israel is actually part of a pact to prevent Israel from developing superior weapons than what the US is selling around the world. You see there is a lot of money in weaponry. What we do my friend, is pay Israel to not take our market share of weapons sales around the world. A pretty good deal considering the US income from weapon sales. You people are so naive.
I think you've forgotten to mention that Israel in 2004 was the second bigges recipient of US aid. I've not been able to find other figures but I'm pretty sure other years tell a similar story. http://www.worldpolicy.org/projects/arms/reports/israel050602.html It'd pretty laughable to claim that the US don't back up Israel 100% and claim that giving them nuclear weapons was I quote 'co-operate a little on the military front'! Another kick ass post Latehorn! You keep setting them up and I'll knok them down
