When I try to access the backend of my site I get the message below. The site itself is fine. But the problem occurs when try to get into /wp-admin Index of /wp-admin * Parent Directory * images/ * import/ * includes/ * js/ Apache/2.2.11 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.11 OpenSSL/0.9.8i DAV/2 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at www.mysite.com Port 80 I added a new domain....but I pointed it to the right spot...and I was in the FTP but the files in the worpress file are untouched.
It seems that the file index.php of the wp-admin directory is missing. Reuploading it should solve your problem.
yes reupload all the wordpress files. DONT REPLACE THEM IGNORE THEM WHEN IT ASKS. OR ELSE YOU WILL LOST YOUR DESIGNS AND ALL THINGS.
Don't think it's necessary to reupload everything. Just reuploading wp-admin's index.php should be good enough.
Probably doesn't know what "core" means (I know I didn't) Just do what Ikki said, reinstall the index.php file, if that is not it, then follow the same directions as an upgrade. http://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress
Your wp-content is probably the most important as it has your themes and any customizations done to it, along with your plug ins. You can reinstall the wp-admin folder in its entirety to remedy your site. Remember: Back-up Often!
Ok figured out the problem.... When I added another domain to my hosting I got confused....in the public_html folder there was a new folder for the add on domain...but I did not see a folder for the original site....well there isn't one. the files in the root folder is where my wordpress files for the original site are located, so i accidently deleted some important stuff out of the root folder. So i called hostgator to figure this one out. Thanks for the help. P.S. I took 3 hours to totally rebuild my site.....the word of the day is BACKUP!
Now you understand why backups are so important! Personally, I back up all my files every week or so. Keeping a fresh copy of your site with you can be very handy when disaster strikes
