Ok, ive been working on a website for the past 2 years, this includes all aspects of seo, design and marketing, now I'm at a point where I need more ideas on how to market the website I work on. I don't have a massive budget, and I'm looking for things I can do myself and online, offline marketing is not an option really at the moment, I have already done: + sales messages in sms + email campiagns + I've set up a blog + blog posting + other forum sigs + etc etc etc - all the general marketing stuff you would expect really... What I'm looking for is ideas that are out of the box marketing ideas, I considered second life and virtual worlds for a few examples. All help and suggestions welcome! Thanks all in advance!
Hey, well it's not really "outside the box", but there are many old things you can try that you haven't already mentioned. If you've been working on it for 2 years, i guess there's hell of a lot of content. How about running a poll here at DP and other SEO based forums asking people what the biggest problems they face are! Then make that into a free report and advertise in your sig, upload to free download sites. Your report will obviously have your business url on every page! As your from the UK, check out Gumtree (our version of Craigslist), you can post 2 or 3 ads throughout each different region advertising your free offer. Check google for your main keywords, what other sites are ranking well. Contact the owners and say you would like to send them your free report. Say they can give it out as gift in a newsletter to their lists or advertise it on their sites. As long as the information you provide in your free report has some form of value, you can reach a lot of your competitors customers as well as new people. As your report has your url on display (say at the bottom of every page), this should give you a few spikes in traffic and maybe new people who have not yet come across your work before!
Thanks for the informatiom, yeah I have over 2500 pages on the website and counting, I've done the craiglist UK thing and gumtree and the main keywords for my niche are covered (im in the top 10 for everything really I need to be, including long tail keywords) I gues I'm looking for alternatives which may have worked for people, I'm seriously considering the second life option, but I hear mixed reviews about this alot.

Dont' forget to link to your site of course, after having done that you could submit the lens to popular social networking and bookmarking sites digg stumble ypon spicy page and so on never forget about your lens after it's created. You will probably have to spend at least 2-4 hours to visit lenses of other people. While you are at it make sure to leave a comment or two at these other people's lenses. This will probably make all those people add your comments visit your lens and vote for you. 5. you tube advertising search for you tube videos that have loads of views and that relate to the topic of your website. Get in touch with the owner or the author of these videos and ask them if they could sell you the place to the right where you have information about the video, buy it and place your link there...or you could try getting it for free by offering free ad space to the owner on your site, whatever floats your boat...
