We have this website that ranks well on Google.com in our region (China), but ranks very poorly in Google.ca, Google.co.uk, Google.com (US) and Google Australia. I was doing a search for our main keyword in all those different Google sites, and I noticed that the top-10 results almost always showed up local sites (.ca sites for Canada, .co.uk sites for UK...etc) Is it a good idea to buy a hosting package and domain name from each of those countries and set up a new branch of our site there? Or should we just keep our current .com site and just try to get more targetted backlinks from websites located in those countries? (This option is obviously cheaper and more ideal for us )... but which method is the more effective?
Can you consider make pages in new version/language to the targeted geographical location? I actually don't have experience with it, hope others have and share here.
