You should exchange links with other sites like yours.

Is your site content good? If not, then people won't come back!

You need to rank high on different lucrative keywords in Google. In order to do that, you need SEO :) Since you have a sport niche, sport forums and blogs would also greatly help you in delivering visitors.

Could I have a look at your site? I might be able to suggest something more specific after having a look at it.

Meanwhile, here are some general suggestions.

1.) Social Bookmarking- Do it at the right places. Digg isn't the place to go for submitting sports related news. Do it at places like Ballhype which have a sports audience.

2.) Timing is very important- Post your reports immediately after the game. News produced 24 hours later is as good as useless in the sports world.

3.) If you can create some viral videos ( not using copyrighted material though), put the URL of your site and upload the video to Youtube and other video sharing sites. You'll get plenty of traffic that way.

4.) Post your links in relevant forums- create an account there, and get involved in the discussions there.

5.) Build links to your sites so that your chances of getting natural search engine traffic keep improving.

    Good luck :)

try your videos posted in your youtube channel. Sports fanatics loves to see sports live like basketball, boxing, rugby, baseball and football. blog about it and leave a link towards your site.

first of all, try to make good contents that visitors would like, articles that are interesting and good to learn something new... Pictures are great if you could provide some, then try to bookmark your site on well known Social Bookmaring sites(e.g Delicious, StumbleUpon etc)... Try to join Twitter as well, because this might boost your traffic in just weeks or even more, days.

Traffic is important, but remember to build your links too, SERPs are important, your keywords selection is very crucial imo Sport related sites are very broad and needs to be specific...

There's a lot of good replies already made in this thread, however you have to remember Sports sites will be very competitive. You will be competing with companies with a lot of money to throw into SEO and marketing. However that doesn't mean you can't get on the map. If i were you i would look at being as niche as possible to start with, maybe just concentrate on a certain type of sport, or even a certain type of product range (e.g. sports clothes, or racket sport equipment etc). Once you have established yourself within that niche you can push out and diversify, being driven by your existing loyal customer base.

what kind of sport site you have? I'm interested because I'm planning to have a new one and perhaps we could do a link exchange. Just let me know.
