i just opened up another sports blog. please give me all reviews! what is good and bad etc. www.thesmellylocker.com i want this blog to turn out real successfully.
Everything is OK mate....good design, good content...the only one needed to this domain is traffic, so just do good promotion, and you will get the good result for this website. Good luck. Andy
I have always liked that theme, it's a good choice for multiple category blogs. I would have probably went with white background in the header, since there is so much blue and grey already in the theme, especially since your logo is also dark...it will also help to hide the edges of the logo. But if you keep it that way... I would make "The Locker" in white and "Smelly" in blue, to make "The Locker" stand out more...not "Smelly". Your category headers are red, that makes them hard to notice....I would probably make them a dark color and increase the size of the text. For marketing purposes, I would probably come up with a unique perspective like "Sports Editorials" or "Sports news with an attitude" or something a little different than just "Sports News" since there are already so many major sources, just to let first time readers know that you have something different than the norm. For seo purposes, it seems you have a little photo shop knowledge.....I would make a new image/banner that says "Breaking news" and replace the one that says "Headlines Today"..that way you don't have to use "Breaking news" in your headline, and just use the immediate subject. Those are just little tweeks, and just my opinions of course. Over all it looks good. Sports is tough to keep up since there is so much news everyday, but I like what you have done so far
thanks.. i am going to get with the designer and see what he can do with the breaking news and stuff. i have a content question.. does the content look good? does it look like it should rank in google well? how long should each article be? so far the ones i have written are like over 100 words or so.. i need opinions on how well the content is.. like will it rank.
everything is good. and put a meaningful logo and change ur website banner text. that style is not suitable for a sports site and contents images are not shown correctly in front page. ( i mean resolution. change front page picture res size ) and do a SEO analysis. then ur blog will get popular.
Good design and layout. The contents are meaningful and the site was easy to navigate. But the images on the content is not much clear and the overall text size should be reduced or change the style of it.The logo should be replaced and the text on banner is horrible. So will be fine if you take a note on these issues and resolve it.Thanks for your effort made.
Nice blog, gives lot of information. But the images are loading little bit slow and also looks too wide, check it out..
An article should be as long as it takes to provide all the information. 100 words is kind of short. I am sure that some of your articles require more to get the point across, but there is no "real" rule that says you can't do that. If they rank or not depends on how much competition there is. If your competitors are supplying more information, they will probably beat you out on traffic for long tail key words and phrases, and pick up more natural links....keeping you at the bottom of the serps. It's hard being in such a competitive field with known authorities, especially since they have a staff of writers that can bang out multiple articles an hour. The only way to compete is not to skimp n the information.
I like the format and you have the structure set up for a lot of good content and features. Navigation is easy and simple. It looks like it just needs some good content to fill out all the sections.
The design looks good. The images don't looks good.. work on your articles. You also need traffic.. good luck.
