You get banned for some reason and drop from 1000's of dollars a month to 0 ? Everytime i see multiple clicks from same ip in adlogger, i totally freak out. Is it safe to focus all you have on adsense?
Hi The obvious answer is no, its not good business practice. However playing a straight game helps, if you are sure your above board and legal you can work with google and get things straightened out. I read such a story yesterday of a webmaster who's website traffic jumped (and earnings). He was unsuspended fairly quickly after talking to google. That gave me some hope that if it happens i can get it resolved fairly quickly.
Please don't remained me, I don't know which is worse should I leave Adsense as it is, basically a pocket money which covers hosting and my hobbies or invest lot of time and energy to make it my primary source of income and then get paranoid each time I get traffic or CTR increase.
the key is absolute honesty in all your entire business practices for once. actually normal and obvious ... only honesty leads to lasting success in business. the other point I practice since I have the site 9 years ago - is that besides above I consider G adsense income my tipping only - if I have it I may do some extra publishing jobs beyond the necessary - without I stay well within topic. I work service oriented and that alone should be of direct value to real customers / site visitors resulting in direct donations proportional to the value site visitors receive. anything above - like adsense income does make my life easier and make me afford a top HW and top SW on a annual basis to always stay on top of tech developpment and to always have fine working tools and the best / most efficient working environment. If I lose all adsense - life and work still goes on as usual - just a little different. even if I drop out of Google search traffic still goes on - little less but enough the referrers are simply too many to depend on one single SE - all goes on and on with or w/o G - just a little different a general rule in business: never depend on ONE single business partner for your resources of life/income. be free and remain open for all possible resources.
But isnt that the point, increasing your traffic and earnings? They can't pull a red flag everytime someone has more traffic than usual...I read so many stories about people getting banned for something they have no control over... Is google's fraud detection flawless and are those webmasters lying about that they have nothing to do with it? Or do they ban as soon as they see "weird" behavior ? Whatever that may be...
I don't see they are that rigid I had traffic double several times for a day or two but since my CTR didn't change I never got any warnings, I'm guessing "weird" behavior would be Slashdot effect or your CTR going through the roof.
I know the perils of relying on only one or two sources of income. Unfortunately, I'm not creative enough to diversify away from Adsense and Chitika. Regarding your other statement, it's very normal for a surfer from one IP address to click on multiple ads. Eg on many of my pages, I have 2 leaderboards, one above and one below the content. Every now and then, all the ads somehow seem relevant to the surfer and (s)he clicks all 8 units. Cross my fingers that Google doesn't see this as a click fraud thingy.
Most i get from a user is 4 clicks.. i think it's normal your user clicks on whatever they are interested.
Yes, I am worried but there's no reason I should be scared. I'm only getting 1800-2000/mo from adsense alone right now. That's the main reason you spread your sources of income out so you're not dependant JUST on google. C
I agree. My feeling is that people who involve themseves in any click fraud activity get banned and those who are mistakenly sent banned email will be reinstated.
Indeed. And some people will actually find moving toward other revenue streams is more profitable. But most (like myself) will test the waters with Adsense only first
for those who use adsense.... Google is BIG BOSS on you.... u tried to do wrong... it will kick your ASS... sometimes even you did'nt do anything wrong... it will KICK ur ASS... Morel: It will kick your ass
That depends entirely on what kind of site you have. There are affiliate programs for just about every kind of site. Got a surfing site? Sell surboards. Got a movie site? Sell movies. Got a ringtone site? Sell ringtones, etc. There are two levels of affiliate products you can sell to ANY site -- the immediate/direct product (visitors to surfing sites will buy surf gear) and the secondary products (visitors to that same surfing site might also want to buy DVDs of popular surfing movie, their surfing idol's book, etc). Find out who your audience is, find out their interest, then find the product to sell to them. Scour affiliate brokers like Clickbank, Linkshare, and Commission Junction. One of them will have what you need, maybe all three. Use all three in conjunction with Adsense. There is no reason why you can't continue to keep using Adsense. Instead, now you'll have two source of revenue. You'll be surprised how much you can make just by selling one or two products a day; it may be as much as your Adsense earnings, or more, depending on the cost of your products.
Do not worry guys. You just need to stay awake and look the spikes in earning or clicks. As soon as you get that. Blow the warning to google. I did it and got the my account cut by few dollors, but they thanked me for raising the warning. They appreciate honesty too. Now and then I click on my own ads, may be 2 to 3 clicks per week. But I send them the detail of my own click. They do not mind that too. Nuttymarketer
As they say in my line of work, don't quit your day job...or as they say in Serbia, Zdravo, kako si? Shesam se sutra. Volim te! Or something like that. As much as I make in Adsense, I make at least tripple from unexpected affiliate sales from clickbank and commission junction. I don't rely, nor depend on Adsense for my dough.
