Am I approaching article marketing the right way??

This is what I've been doing.

Writing 1 article, rewriting it 20 times, and submitting that same article to the top 20 directories. Then I'll write a completely new article relating to the same niche, but rewrite it 20 times and resubmit again. I keep repeating this process.

So I'll usually take 30 articles and turn them into 600, that means 30 articles per directory, and this does bring me a lot of sales, but I get the feeling that I am not working very intelligently here.

I'm getting the impression that the best thing to do is take 1 article and rewrite it as many times as possible (like 100) and resubmit all 100 to 1 directory. Then, if you did this for 20 directories, taking 30 articles and turning them into 100 each, you would get 3000 total articles.

Is this true? I'm a little scared to publish an article to EZA, and then rewrite that same article and republish it over and over again to EZA - doesn't that tick them off?

Though it is relative to your situation, for the most part article marketing is not worth the time. You may be able to get a little SEO lift but it isn't going to bring you a lot of traffic. Once again, if you only want to make $100-$200 of a month it may be worth your while but it won't generate thousands.

There are several failed attempts at this documented on this forum.

Searchnology is right. Only articles can't bring many sales. In my opinion you just need to write some with high quality content and do SEO to bring profits to you. That would make money easier.

I respect your opinion, but I'm not worried about making money with article marketing, because I've done it, but I'm always looking for improvements, which is why I take the time to ask stupid questions and annoy people on this forum ;)

I'm just trying to figure out how to get the most out of one article - if you use the right tricks for SEO with articles, and have good timing, this method is very affective.

Actually it is. Do remember one thing is that you should compare ROI and your time investment.

Well, I can usually make $300-$400 for about 40 hours work, I don't think that's too bad, but I know that it could be better. So anyways, can I rewrite an article and resubmit, or will this get me in trouble with certain directories?

Like I said, it is all relative(I target $100/hr minimum)....but at least you are making money...some never do.

Regarding the articles strategy....you'll need to test to know for sure but if it feels like spamming (I think you suspect this already given your hesistation) I wouldn't bank on it as a long-term strategy.

That is very encouraging - thank you. Didn't mean to sound hateful earlier - you gave me a straight forward opinion...appreciate it. $100 an hour is my first long term goal by the way (baby steps first - smaller goals to get their) - I refuse to quit.

I think you should outsource the writing, rewriting & submission part to someone else.

That will help you to save a lot of time and still enjoy the same reward that you get from doing article marketing. It won't cost a lot of money if you choose the right person to do the job.

I've thought about this and am eager to try it - I've done it with so many other services, but the results were never good. I don't mind spending the money, but quality is important to me - I have found ways to create systems for doing things faster and more efficiently - I think this is one of the most important things about business in general, however, I know that I need to step more into that entrepreneurial mindset, by allowing others to do things for me.

I agree - I have plenty to do, and I need to allow myself to let others do things for me, so long as I choose the right people. One of my burdens is that I actually enjoy writing - I wrote screenplays in the old days.

Thanks guys for the input - it helps a lot.

First of all that's not true. It can generate thousand easily. Most people that had their failure documented were not persistent and they didn't like to actually work.

Second, what is your suggestion then? PPC?

I'm happy for anyone making money using this method, I just haven't seen it documented...anywhere and I've tried it myself and I'm no rookie. Generating thousands "easily" and being "persistent" seem like contradicting points to me.

The promotion method question depends on whether you own the product or are an affiiliate, the niche's size and demand, price point, and back end conversions.

If you own the product I suggest a CPA network and then PPC and lastly SEO. (SEO is last only because it takes so much time but has the best ROI)

The channels above are the most efficient and do cost money but your time is invested in manging the ROI and not in endless copy writing. The reason most use article marketing is because they have more time than money. (i.e BUM marketing)

If you are rewriting all the articles then yes it will help you.

I meant it like this: designing a space rocket without any prior knowledge is hard. Digging up a whole garden is "easy" because everyone can do it just takes a lot of time and energy.

Other than that I completely agree with you. And I hope I'll be the first to prove to you that thousands monthly can be made via bum marketing. But still a tremendous amount of work ahead of me until then.

The only problem with PPC for people such as myself, is the fact that we don't have much capital to play with, and PPC is a very sophisticated and head-achy science within itself, that requires a lot of testing and some money to burn.

So what happens for me is that I'll drop $200 on ads, test, wait, and then test some more, but the money dries up so quickly that I have to wait till I have more funds to spend. Each time I do this I learn a lot, but the process is still slow.

I have no problem spending money to gain wisdom.

Wonderful things will happen, like an amazing CTR, but then the CTR will also baffle me, so sometimes its hard for me to say "oh, that's why that worked so well" - but maybe I have a terrible, calculating business sense, so I guess I'm a bum till I figure it out :D

In the mean time all that I can say is that I don't just use the internet to promote my articles.

This has been discussed before, and no there is no point in submitting 600 articles for one single site within a short time frame.

The thing is most of the articles directories don't send any traffic at all. Only EzineArticles.com, Buzzle.com, GoArticles.com amd ArticlesBase do send traffic the rest are only there to be there.. if you know what I mean. (they're useless for traffic)

PS. Getting 600 backlinks from article directories alone will hurt your site rankings (don't do it)

Yeah a bit of SEO will help for sure that if you know what to do ..

    Cheers

Why not? I you're sending the articles only to get backlinks then maybe no point but if you send 600 articles to ezine articles you'll get your reward. It is possible though that it will be shortlived.

I also think that you should outsource writing. Trust me, it's simply not worth the time. Also, if you want to see some results, make sure you have lots (I mean LOTS) of articles.

I had some new thoughts on this, and perhaps a new perspective.

I agree precious007 - the other sites are useless. As an added precaution I also used to send my articles to all of the other useless directories, but most of them I realized don't allow any html or backlinks, and even those that do just don't cut it.

I'm going to stop submitting to useless stuff.

I also am thinking that too many articles in a certain time frame could hurt a site. It does seem like suspicious behavior after all. I think if it was done consistently though it would be ok. I'm used to unleashing a bunch of articles upon the world.

I have yet to really master the art of keyword research, but I find that my EZA articles do really well, so I'm obviously doing things that work by accident. I just need to track down what's working and what's not. Though it sounds so simple, sometimes its a pain in the a**.

Dell Merk - the only reason that I don't outsource at the moment is because my niche is so specific, that it requires my expertise. There is no way that anyone else could write these articles for me, but my next project I will definitely do a lot of outsourcing.
