Yes I have used both on my computer.

In fact I just switch to Fire Fox earlier this year and I have found it to be better then IE.

though the latest IE copied some of the thing that originally made Fire Fox famous (like taps) Fire Fox still has few things that helps make it better

for example on IE if your browser crashes you lose everything that you had up (your pages and what you may have written on them)

With Fire Fox if you ever have a crash it saves all the pages, so if you want you can get right back on when you reload Fire Fox.

another nice thing is that Fire Fox scans every time you download something.

its the small things like that, that make FF the better of the two browsers right now.

you can get Fire Fox here ( www.mozilla.com/firefox/ ) if you want to try it and it's free

I don't mean to jump on you, but you are the first person who I've heard say something like this that doesn't work for Microsoft:D

that maybe a issue in the future, but right now this is the reason why IE isn't the safest browser to use. Since it's the most popular and everyone is targeting it RIGHT NOW.

so most of the viruses, worms, trojans and what have you are made to attack people with IE.:(

I'm using flock (it's based on Fx) - if you try flock, you will see why - watch some videos etc it is GREAT!

I use IE for updates only, maybe some page testing and stuff. Chrome, Fx also reside, might get opera again too, but I have too many browsers as it is :p

    Link for the clueless:
IE has dropped to 66% market share.

That's a 30% drop since Firefox was introduced.

I will use IE if the page couldn't load in FireFox, otherwise I use FireFox most of the time.

This is all very interesting but you guys do realise that explorer has infinitely more users than firefox?

The way some of you are talking it's as if IE is the poor cousin rather than the overwhelming market leader it is.

If you are designing sites and ignoring 80% of web users then I question if you are in the correct line of work. For me both browers are quite fine and I really don't get the fuss. It seems more like a class thing to me....you know........ being with the in crowd or not:)

Did you not read a word from just a few posts earlier?! IE is 66% and dropping. More and more users are migrating to other browsers. But no one said to ignore IE when designing web sites.

Then I have to question whether you belong in this line of work since you are unaware of the myriad of technical problems with IE and why no web designer worth his salt would ever say IE was "quite fine".

IE not the poor cousin it just the cousin that it far less talented yet get's by because it has a rich dad that pushes him down everyone throat.

The reason IE has such a big market share is because it comes with windows and people just settle with it, not because it's the better browser.

that why people say they use it for testing but for personal use they stick with the Fox

Does IE offer any real advantage on other browsers, like FF or Chrome? IMHO, I don't think so.

To be honest I liked FF 2.0 so much because it was fast.. but FF 3.0 disappointed me a little.. it generally gets crashed..

Regarding IE 8 there comes some huge improvements. Features like:

    Accelerators
    framing
    Js Debugging

Tab Recovery are unique features which you wont find in Firefox also it is faster than the earlier versions of IE, even in Win 7 IE runs at the same speed as firefox does with less crash...

The problem with firefox is if one tab gets crashed then the whole Firefox will go Down.. in IE each tab has its own exe so it recovers itself when ever it gets crashed..

I am waiting for Firefox 4.0 and crossing my fingers for some new innovative features..

There are only 2 complete browsers exists in Market

    1. IE
    2. FF

Chrome and others are just useless for business purpose..
Like you cannot add any addons any toolbars any themes.

The worse thing with Google's Chrome is you cant add Google Toolbar to it..

and this is reason why IE and Firefox Rule the market...

Fix your system. There are millions of us who have no such issues.
Where have you been? FF has had this for years!
Except in the next version, coming out in June, Firefox will run significantly faster, along with a 8x improvement in javascript execution.
There is controversy over that claim but Firefox will do the same in a coming version.
Firefox, and all other browsers, are technically 11 years ahead of IE8 in all areas but CSS2.1 support. Microsoft's plans for IE9, as stated on their IEBlog, guarantees it will fall further behind the browser wars and continue its legacy of the worst browser on the planet.

There's a reason why IE has lost 30% market share over the last 4 years, since Firefox introduction, and continues to lose market share almost every month.

Opera and Android rule the mobile market.
Yes you can with Chrome and Opera. Chrome recently added the development kit.
Haven't looked lately but I thought that was built in.
    Don't recall.
IE didn't have add-ons till IE8 came out so that is not the reason. Firefox is gaining share for technical superiority although add-ons for the average user is a significant advantage for FF.

Don't they have the browser change addon for firefox that makes it easy to view a page in different browsers by the click of a button right in firefox so firefox is always the best choice

    Thanks,
    John

I'm actually using firefox, but opera is fine too.
IE is only for testing purpose to me.
