I think it is great, they created Islam Day to further the understanding of the religion, one of the largest in the world. Understanding each other better leads to more tolerance and peace. I do not understand the negative reactions to this. Do you really need to portray Islam as that child with a toy gun?
Couldn't agree more, though in all fairness, I want Agnostic day as well. Atheists should also be screaming for their own day. Pegan day would probably be the best party of the group....
Oops, you are baiting stox . But I agree with such activities and days that allow for greater understanding of each other, agnostic, islamic etc. Just feeling that what the world lack is understanding and greater understanding will help foster relationships across religions and cultures. More understanding and less unknown leads to less fear and more acceptance. My favorite quote again from Master Yoda : “Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.â€
We don't need a day to do this. While, I'm glad one of the states is doing something to further education and increase tolerance, I personally think Hawaii is going about it the wrong way. Although, with the constitution and people always whining, this may be the most effective way. We shall see what happens on this day.
