I am currently in the process of testing/reviewing seed bytes seedbox services. So far I can say that the server is running smooth. No lag, and there seems to be enough processing power to handle a good amount of torrents simultaneously. As far as speeds go I was able to get around 2-3 MB/s download (not that many seeds on the torrent) and around 4-5 MB/s upload for that same torrent. ( Torrent had 25 seeds, 100 Peers, demonoid tracker) At that same time I was able to download to my home computer via FTP and reicieved speeds of 3.8 mbps which is 475 kb/second. My connection is 8 mbps however I was also downloading another torrent on my desktop so it may have affected the speed. The main thing that has me a little disappointed is the fact with private trackers, you do not receive credit for the uploading. The main thing a seedbox is for is to download and upload at high speeds, or if your ISP blocks it. I for one like it so my ratio doesn't go bad when downloading multiple GB of data as my upload is capped and I dislike leaving torrents running in the background. I haven't seen speeds reach over 100mbps, well for me I haven't gotten over 45mbps, but given that its a shared environment and the health of the torrent, I would say this service is worth the cost. I am not 100% on his support, or how he plans to manage these seedboxs. But from the experience I have so far, This is definitely worth paying month to month for. The offers seem fair, and prices are just. If he can keep this quality up he will have no problem expanding his customer base. Once I finish my trial period I will post another full review on his service.
Perhaps you've worded this badly, but what do you mean exactly? Are you saying this is a problem with these specific seedboxes, or with the tracker you used? You should be credited for all upload on a private tracker. If you weren't credited with ratio for the uploading, there's a problem.
Im saying when I downloaded from a private tracker, my account wasn't credited. It uploaded roughly 200 GB of data yet my account didn't move 1 GB. So this would be an issue with the seedbox. However it was able to connect and download fine. My question is how could you even have multiple accounts on 1 IP. I didnt think that was possible. Unless he assigns each a IP.
If your using demonoid there is no point in using a seedbox as your upload is not counted unless you login and download the torrent with your seedbox ip.
Thats what I was saying. everything works fine, I wish that it would benifit my ratio rather then whoever logged in on the server IP. It would be near impossible to give every account an IP though. But it could be addon that people may be interested in. Or included with the larger packages.
Thanks..All working well..Speeds are decent-downloading at approx 11-15mbytes/sec on a well seeded torrent. Upload maxed out at approx 5mbytes/sec on a torrent with a decent amount of peers.
Dude demonoid and upload and download data are in a fight they are never up to date and just like someone said they are looking at your ip. Also demonoid is one of the rare torrent sites that does this and all other sites will credit you upload
Hello Kevin, The technical limitation we are trying to describe here is the passkey system ( or lack of ).This enables trackers to monitor usage without relying on IP addresses. Demonoid does not employ this system and therefore has to rely on IP addresses. IP based systems are almost obsolete these days. We offer ( upon request ) a proxy service, to help our customers resolve this issue. I hope this clears up any confusion over the matter. Regards, Shaun
