Ah the title of this thread is becoming increasingly hilarious: Obama's approval rating is now at 67%. That's damn good.

Now a big test: Will Obama pick a true liberal for the Supreme Court or will he bow to the pressure of the right wing nuts and try to win them over with a "moderate" ??? The Republicans have no problem chooses right wingers like Alito & Roberts. It's time for turn-about.

I will be very disappointed if Obama doesn't take this opportunity to select a true liberal for the SC because this is just too important. This is a big part of his legacy and I hope he is thinking about how much damage it would do to be looking backward with his selection. The country is moving to the left in a big way, it's time for the SC to catch up with Americans.

    ---

Important thing that I hope Obama takes note of: The GOP will be furiously against whoever he picks (moderate or not) so he might as well pick a true liberal. Hell the GOP has already come out against his nominee and he hasn't even made his pick yet! It's truly hilarious the games the right wing plays when it comes to the SC.

It's time for Obama to show some backbone. Don't be a pushover Barack, pick a real liberal just like Bush picked a real conservative. This is the time for the Democrats to realize they are in power. They call the shots. Forget this bipartianship nonsense. The Republicans are living in the past, they just want to hold up progress. It's time to run them over.

WOW! Exactly what I would say! Run them down like the dogs they are! We need judges in the supreme court who realize how outdated the constitution is. We need judges with a value system based on social justice. The 47% of America that didn't vote for Barack, and the large group of swing voting independents who did are not important. This nation needs a push to the left, and the right pick could make all the difference.

My only concern is that Barack do proper research to make sure his nominee is sufficiently leftist. Bush senior clearly failed to do that when he selected Suter, who supposedly had good right wing credentials and turned out to be one of the left most justices on the bench. What if Barack chooses someone who appears to be left, but then they switch? I'm thinking the only safe bet is to get someone over the top left, with a strong track record of legislating from the bench.

I wasn't really expecting this: President Obama's approval rating is now at 68% (that's exactly the same as it was for his very first approval rating as President which came out on January 24th.) 100 days of attacks from the Republicans/Fox News haven't left a dent. They better go back to the drawing board. The American people are not buying what the GOP/Fox News has to sell.

GM has been nationalized and the Banks may follow.

GM is planning a reverse stock split that would give stockholders one share of new stock for every 100 shares they currently own.

*The U.S. government would get a 50 percent equity stake in exchange for about $10 billion in loan forgiveness.
-GM has to reach agreement with the United Auto Workers to swap stock for about $10 billion of the $20 billion in payments GM must make into a trust fund that will take over retiree health care expenses starting next year. The UAW's stake would total about 39 percent.
    -Bondholders would get 10 percent
-Current stockholders would get 1 percent.

The Wall Street Journal reported federal regulators have warned Bank of America Corp. it will need to raise about $34 billion -- more than most expectations.

So to clarify, the Whitehouse predetermined "Bankruptcy" works as follows:
The US Govt gets 50% of GM in exchange for 10 billion dollars
The UAW gets 39% of GM in exchange for 10 billion dollars
The bond holders get 10% of GM in exchange for 27 billion dollars.
The sum of the current stock holders get to keep 1% of GM, reduced from... 100%?

What are you whining about? Redistribution of wealth was never in dispute. Mr. Obama is doing exactly what he said he would do. Lets look at this objectively. How many people does the UAW represent? A lot. How many people does the US govt. Represent? All of us. How many people do the evil hedge funds, who are the bond holders represent? A lot less. When you take the dollar figures out of it, and look at the number of people represented, this deal is very fair. When you consider how wealthy those bond holders are, they can afford to spread the wealth around a little. It sounds perfect to me, and I'm looking forward to getting my share.

Obama's approval rating will follow lock in step with the Dow. We could sell Florida to Cuba and have a 70% approval rating if the Dow pushes back over 10k.

A lot of people are drinking the kool-aid.

The last time that the US went into an inflationary environment in 1980, the DOW dropped to 1000.

I saw Obama saying a few days ago something to the effect: "Stimulus is spending, that's what stimulus is"

He's not the sharpest knife in the drawer without his little prompter and a prepared script. He makes GWB look like a phonetic genius.

How you can say that amazes me. Name one speech W wrote hisself. Name one speech he was heavily involved in crafting.

Obama either writes his own or makes significant contributions to his speeches.
Obama went to Harvard Law School and was elected editor of the Harvard Law Review. Obama graduated magna cum laude in 1991.

W applies to University of Texas Law School and is rejected.

This meme that Obama doesn't speak well when he's not reading off the teleprompter just isn't catching on but the crazy right wingers keep on running with it. When will they learn? There has to be at least some semblance of truth to something for it to really take off with people who don't already buy into the right winger's bizarre world view.

The fact is everyone has seen Obama in countless debates, press conferences, and interviews and he has always appeared to be an exceptionally intelligent and thoughtful man.

Please come up with something better. This ain't going to cut it. Oh yeah and attacking Obama for putting mustard on his hamburger ain't going to cut it either. The right wingers are really just setting new standards for insanity each and every day. I mean seriously? They don't like what condiment he puts on his hamburger? Mustard is "elitist" now? I mean it's just so incredibly childish it's hard to know how to even respond to these people.

And maybe that's the key: There's no need to respond to them. They've become entirely irrelevant. Just look the other way and let them continue the death spiral as their stupid old ideas get tossed into the waste basket of history along with the rest of the dumb crap people used to think. Let them yammer on about gay marriage. Let them keep screaming about how it's elitist not to like ketchup. Let them keep talking about teleprompters as if they were some new invention. As if they aren't reading off a teleprompter while complaining about someone else reading off a teleprompter. As if Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush didn't use a teleprompter (they did of course - as has every other modern President.)

It's really time to look the other way and not to even engage people who can't think or debate rationally.

I know it's hard to ignore the child throwing a temper tantrum but eventually you grow deaf to the whining and the crying about nothing. There's work to be done after all :) They'll cry themselves out eventually.

Rumor has it, he can knit a pair of mittens with his pecker while holding a beer and sending a text message on his blackberry. Is there anything this guy can't do?
