Lets say for example I want to target the following keyword blue cats yellow dogs I know it is important to get those kew words in anchor text. My question is is it better to promote them sepretly (example rotate the anchor text blue cats with the other keyword yellow dogs) or is it better to have them both in the anchor text so the anchor text would be Blue Cats and Yellow Dogs Would the anchor text count for the keyword if other words are in the anchor text too what is better for SEO
I'd do a combination of all 3. Change around the semantics of it too. Ex. "Cats Blue" or "Yellow Blue Dogs". Having lots of variations on the same anchor text is really going to pinpoint for Google (mainly) that your site is about your main keyword. I've ranked lots of clients this way.
If you have 100 links that all say "Blue Dogs and Yellow Cats" that looks unatural & suspicous to the SE's. Mix up your anchor text but keep a congruent theme. the best yellow cats Only blue dogs buy blue dogs etc Catch my drift
These are two, 2 word phrases (Blue Dogs, Yellow Cats) not 4 seperate words and the anchor text should refelect this. Blue Dogs Yellow Cats Blue Dogs Yellow Cats Yellow Cats Blue Dogs By adding a word to the front of the string or at the end, will increase the possibilities. Or put the "and", "or", "vs" in the center. The objective is to increase the keyword count without spamming. I limit this count to 20 inside the site and 50 outside but many SEOer say this is to much. If you are going to do this, make sure that it is on the highest PR page inside your site and then keep the number down. Don't waste this on a PR 0 or PR 1 page. Also, try not to do this on the home page. It works better inside the site. Jim Catanich
