I've set my geographical target to uk and my domain is a .net but i only seem to be ranking well in google.com. Will my rankings pick up in google.co.uk with time (as its pretty early days still)? Anyone got any experience of this?
Thats a very good point! i've heard of this happening, i've been on a uk server up untill now but changed because they didnt have the available php stuff on my uk one so im now in the US i think. How can i correct this then? is there any way?
ok.whatever you had done up to now like hosting domain, and also not having .co.uk in ur domain.Although it makes some affect to ur ranking , but still if you can get some backlinks from some good uk webistes of ur niche, u can make it there also in UK
Correct... Server location plays important part in geographical targeting.. Moreover as jimmy03 said getting links from god .co.uk domains will also give you ranking benefit in Google.co.uk.
Is it worth me getting a uk host instead then? I've been looking at a dedicated host anyway so it might be worth doing it now? Can i host multiple domains on a dedicated server and will this affect my other well ranking uk site?
Have you registered for google webmaster tools? Their is a setting called Geographic target. They say:
