Wordpress.com : Associating all my blogs with a different account

Way back in the mists of time I started my first wordpress.com blog .. cheerfully posted away until one day it was shut down under a violation of TOS. Now, that looks like a bad thing doesn't it, but, like all n00bs, I hadn't appreciated the purpose and rules of Wordpress entirely. I'd just blogged away and had too many links going back to one site and so I think it was falling foul of "driving traffic to another website".

So, roll on 2.5 years and I've now got a group of wordpress.org blogs - all happily running along on my own hosting. However, I have a wordpress.com API which I use for my wordpress.org stats reporting (wp plugin for wp-stats used).

Now, I want to disassociate myself from that original blog. So, I will create a new Wordpress.com blog and then go through each of my .org blogs associating them with this new account ... leaving my old "naughty person" connection behind me. Well, that's the plan.

So, can anybody tell me what the issues/complications are. I can think of the following:

    1) I will lose the historical stats info - all stats will start afresh I'm guessing (but could be wrong)
    2) I've a vague feeling the Wordpress API might not be available these days - am I right/wrong? The thing is, if not, then I wouldn't be able to install/use wp-stats

So, are these two thoughts correct or wrong?
Are there any other things I've not thought of?

    Thanks

I am not sure whether or not you will lose your stats as I've never used that plugin, but you can get a new Wordpress API with a new account- that is not a thing of the past.
