I have some sites hosted in Canada (I have dedicated server there). Everything was pretty nice, except of the situation with 4 of my sites hosted there - one-by-one during last 6 month came out from US tops, but still ranked well in another countries (especially in Canada) All sites: 1) with US address in whois; 2) Geo targeting in WMT selected as US about 2 month ago; 3) content and titles of some pages contains mentions of exact US states (and should be useful for visitors from those states); 4) link backs mainly from the sites hosted in US (at least 90% links from USA) 5) all sites are .com or .org, one of them DMOZ listed, two of them 14 years old... I can't believe, that all that above doesn't enough for Google to target those sites for US audience! Only one thing doesn't saying for Google that those my sites are targeted for US - IP (server location). I have such trouble only with 4 sites, others (more than 15) are ranked pretty well in USA on the same host... That is why I'm not sure about US IP. Is that a filter? Any ideas?
Not all phrases are ranked bad. Phrase 1 (site #2) google.com: - google.co.uk: - google.com.au: 60 google.ca: 45 google.ru: 13 google.cn: 79 google.com.pk: 15 google.com.tw: 18 google.com.vn: 16 google.co.th: 19 google.co.in: 7 google.co.jp: 35 google.co.kr: 17 google.co.nz: 18 google.co.il: 23 google.com.sa: 17 google.com.tr: 21 google.com.eg: 22 google.de: 36 google.nl: 28 google.fr: 34 google.it: 48 google.gr: 23 google.be: 16 google.cz: 16 google.cl: 15 google.pl: 17 google.hu: 18 google.es: 21 google.ro: 17 google.dk: 14 google.com.mx: 15 google.com.my: 26 google.com.hk: 34 google.co.za: 21 google.com.cu: 16 google.com.sg: 29 google.com.co: 16 google.co.id: 18 google.ch: 29 Phrase 2 (site #2) google.com: 20 google.co.uk: 13 google.com.au: 16 google.ca: 15 google.ru: 16 google.cn: 21 (other TLDs - #16)
Thanks for idea! But nope... Subject and titles were partially changed only on site #2 and (added few words to title, added some new pages). Homepage, titles, design of the site #3 almost didn't changed from 1999
Have you looked at the links going to the site? Are they all from sites hosted in other countries as well?
make a subdomain called (usa.site.com) host it with a usa based ip, then link to it from the home and get some us backlinks to it, wait 8 weeks
yep... all sites have at least 90% link backs from U.S. IPs, I can put here example interesting "recipe" looks like you was suffering from the same trouble. Am I right?
I guess it could because of your server's location. If your server located in US, it may have advantage on getting good rank there.
Yeah, but only 4 sites have this trouble. But others located on the same server (more than 15 sites) and ranked just great in U.S.! That is why I'm not sure about US IP...
