I am looking for a simple CMS to use for downloadable products that people will buy using paypal. I need something that will give a timed download link if possible. Thanks for helping
Ok thanks for that. I have never used Joomla before, is it easy enough for someone that has only used wordpress cms? Also are those plugins easy? Thanks. Anyone else got ideas?
http://www.magentocommerce.com/ is high end enterprise level stuff. http://www.prestashop.com/ is quite nice as well and easier to use. hope that helps, Nigel
Thanks for the input Nigel. I have installed magento on a test server a while back and WOW it is great but far to complex for my needs here. Never heard of prestashop before, but sadly the demo looks really bad and I even encountered an error in the add to cart process, so not interested in that. I hate oscommerce, I have used that bad boy years ago and I really dislike it.
Not sure what build you had. I have it running on test server here http://www.thegraphicdesignresource.com/presta it runs like a champ really. Nigel
Ok thanks Nigel. It actually looks good now that I see it on your link. Can you tell me are there many free templates or skins available? (maybe point me to some?). Also do you know if this will allow me to have the download link (timed) available for my customer imediately after purchase of my digital product? Lastly is this built on oscommerce?
http://www.google.com/search?q=pres...s=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a That should get you some templates. They are floating around. It should be fairly easy to style that stuff as well. I am not sure about timings on downloadable products. I have not really had to deploy anything with presta yet. I am doing a few things with magento now but we typically use our own apps. I am an e-commerce consultant so I have stuff floating around all over the place for demonstration purposes. And no, it is not built on the oscommerce platform. If you want to shoot me a pm you can have the admin login for prestshop if you want to poke around. Nigel
Cheers for all your help Nigel. I have downloaded it and am about to take a look inside once my dns servers update.
Can you tell me why you think its the best? I just had a go of the demo and it seems kinda sluggish compared to prestashop. Also how is the seo? I hear prestashop as good seo, at least that is what I read in their forums.
any site will not do SEO for you, you have to do. Joomla has SEF URL's, moreover the metadata info for every article can be done with joomla too. sluggish - may be the site had more traffic, slow to load. but take a survey and see how many use Virtuemart, prestashop and anyother shopping cart.
