    "Changes to Accepted Business Models

    April 29th, 2009

As part of our effort to focus our resources on the publishers who drive high quality traffic to eBay, we have decided to wind down three types of business models that were previously allowed in eBay Partner Network: tier-2 paid search, ad networks, and sub-affiliates. This change will affect all countries and programs on eBay Partner Network. To be clear, it is still allowed for publishers to source traffic to their own websites via these methods, we are just not allowing direct promotion of eBay through these models.

The reason for making this change is simply that the quality of buyer traffic these business models have sent to eBay historically has not matched the high standards set by the rest of our affiliates. In general, these business models directly source and redirect traffic from many different sites which the publishers themselves do not control. This usually results in affiliate marketing that is less targeted and has a sub-par user experience when compared to models in which the publishers directly control their sites or services along with how they source traffic to them. To provide more clarity, here are further descriptions of these business models:

Tier 2 paid search: Using any paid search / text ad networks that place eBay ads (ads that go directly to an eBay domain) on websites not directly under the publishers’ control. As a reminder, Tier 1 paid search, defined in our Terms and Conditions as putting paid search links directly to eBay from Google, Yahoo!, MSN, or their related networks, is already not allowed in most of our large programs today. This change extends this restriction to all paid search / text ad networks in all eBay Partner Network programs.

Ad Networks: Using any graphical ad network to place eBay ads (ads that go directly to an eBay domain) on websites not directly under the publishers’ control. This has been a model that required special permission until now but will no longer be allowed in eBay Partner Network.

Sub-affiliates: Any arrangement where publishers distribute their earnings from eBay Partner Network to other publishers. Like ad networks, this has been a model that required special permission until now but will no longer be allowed in eBay Partner Network.

Again, it is still allowed for publishers to source traffic to their own websites via these methods, we are just not allowing direct promotion of eBay (direct linking or immediately re-directing to eBay) through these models.

We do not expect this change to have a significant impact on vast majority of our publishers or our overall network, as these business models have been shrinking as a percentage of eBay Partner Network for some time now. We will be working with the small number of remaining affiliates using these models to transition to other business models or swap out their links for other merchant links.

We continue to be committed to and excited about expanding our program by working with affiliates using many different business models where publishers control the websites/services on which they advertise eBay. These include publishers with content sites, product review sites, portals, shopping comparison sites, their own social networks and forums (especially if they are product oriented), loyalty and incentive sites, deal sites, off-eBay merchant sites, and certain types of downloadable software and e-mail services. We have seen a lot of growth in these models in the past year and fully expect to see this continue.

We will be proactively contacting publishers who have specified that they use these business models to help them change their model or close their account by July 1st. If you are using one of these models as part of your affiliate marketing efforts, we ask that you start ramping down these methods so that you are able to stop using them by the July 1st deadline. In addition, we will no longer accept any new applications for these models starting immediately.

If you have any questions on this, please contact customer service at

    Guys,

These new rules don't apply to eBay on Pepperjam Network.

We think this is a good move by eBay in that it will allow Pepperjam to further leverage our direct relationship with eBay.

Hopefully this will lead to eBay accepting more affiliates into their program on Pepperjam since this (pending apps) has been one of the biggest complaints about the eBay on PJN program.

If you are an affiliate of eBay through PJN you should have nothing to worry about.

    Thanks!

pepperjam is the worst affiliate network ever. So this does not make any difference. Use CJ or any other reputable service which does not scam affiliate from their earnings.

I see that you were terminated from their network for low quality referrals/traffic. This is something all affiliate networks incuding CJ do.

You obviously have it in your mind to post in any Pepperjam thread your claim above which is quite sad in the end. You are not the first i've seen on DP to be dropped from an affiliate network because of alleged bad/fraudelent traffic. My advice would be to move on; I notice your website is on Google's 1st page for pepperjam scam, though the other sites there do not seem to back your claim up much.

Again, you seem to have an ok-ish site, good luck with it and with other affiliate programs.

Telling once again that I never get terminated before I started posting in these threads. I got terminated 3 weeks after my first scam yell at pepperjam.

And I have no issue about that because I stopped promoting this junk network 2 months back. I got paid once. But when I stopped promoting their programs I was not paid for the pending balance.

Sent them 3-4 support tickets but no reply.

Then I report this on DP forum and After 10-15 posts and After 3 weeks I was terminated from the program which was a joke.

Eranda Ranasingha (aka ceylonking) is from Colombo in Sri Lanka and was terminated from Pepperjam Network for sending fraudulent, bogus leads.

It's unfortunate that he's used the DP forum to expres his anger over Pepperjam Network terminating him.

Eranda Ranasingha never generated any legitimate leads on Pepperjam Network - that's a fact. - they were 100% fraudulent. The only program he promoted was Pepperjam Network's own affiliate program. Based on the information provided from PJN's Network Quality team this guy either filled out the application for others or they all filled the applications out from his computer.

Eranda - I guess you can make money this way (other Networks beware), but it will not last.

Complaining once you are terminated, however, shows that you are not a professional affiliate marketer and should not be taken seriously.

I was not terminated from pepperjam scam network until I started accusing on how they cheat affiliates. This has nothing to with leads or anything. This is just a pepperjam owners shameless try to stop me from revealing their scams.

If my leads are not good why you did not terminate my account or reverse the leads? Why did you have to wait till I accuse your scam network?

Before approving a lead for your network you evaluate the application. Now are you admitting that your whole system is a failure?

Only now you have figured out they are not good leads? If that is the case, why you sent me a cheque for my first set of leads? You took 90 days to send that first cheque. ( Enough time to evaluate the performance.) It took 7 months for you to figure out my leads are not good and terminate my account? Or you are just saying it now to protect your scam company name? Because I started going public about it?

Every time you put a lie about me here, I am going to hit the reply button. You can admit that you cheated or we can do this till your scam company "pepprjam" lasts.

By the way, things are just started. Expect more !!!
If you have not lied about what really happened, I would have stopped after 2-3 posts.

I almost forgot to mention that Kris Jones who is from USA and behind this shady affiliate network is a big lair and a scammer.

Okay so if PepperJam and ShoppingAds are affiliates of ePN, wouldnt it be better to just go with ePN and skip the middle man? Or am I missing something? Lol

I spoke with Pepperjam's CEO and we worked out our disagreements - he's actually a pretty cool guy.

I've said that Pepperjam Network is a scam, I said that because I was pissed that I didn't get paid. I know they have paid many other affiliates and we have worked out all our disagreement now.

I don't intend to post on this topic any more because quite frankly it was taking too much time and I'm satisfied with how this worked out with the Pepperjam Network.
