    Hello,

Suppose I have a domain called make-money-online.com and its on Top 10 for the keyword "make money online" at Google without significant backlinks....

Now if I do 301 redirect that domain to say m-m-m.com then will i get the rankings and PR benefits of make-money-online.com???

Right now I have parked the new domain so that I can access the sites by using both URLs and I get the benefit of Keywords too...

Anyone have experience on this matter???

404 is not a redirect... 404 is a NOT FOUND error status (all 4xx codes are). I believe you mean 301 redirect.

Are make-money-online.com and m-m-m.com your 'real' domains? or are you just throwing those out as an example? I am guessing you are just throwing them out as an example since make-money-online.com is a parked domain and does NOT appear even in the top 100 organic SERPs at Google for the keyword phrase "make money online". Google kicks parked domains out of the SERPs when they find them either manually or through a spam report.

However if make-money-online.com and m-m-m.com were your real domains, and assuming make-money-online.com is a 'real' site with real content (not a parked domain)...

make-money-online.com is a MUCH, MUCH better domain name than m-m-m.com IMO. I would not redirect make-money-online.com anywhere, ESPECIALLY to m-m-m.com.

The make-money-online.com domain would rank really well for "make money online" without significant backlinks because the domain name is an exact match for the search phrase. And I bet the phrase "make money online" is searched for a LOT. How many people do you think will search for "m m m"? Probably none. You would kill your ability to get traffic if you redirect make-money-online.com to m-m-m.com. The make-money-online.com URLs would all get removed from Google's index and credit for all of make-money-online.com's inbound links (PR and link text) will be given to m-m-m.com. But since it would be parked w/ no content, that site will likely never rank as well as make-money-online.com could for the phrase "make money online". VERY bad idea IMO.

Personally I would keep make-money-online.com and ditch m-m-m.com.

Yeah I meant 301.. Thanks for pointing that out...

    Hey,

    Yeah those are just examples...

    Here are the real domains...

    http://www.whdeals.net/

    and

    http://www.webhosting-deals.com/

webhosting-deals.com is the primary domain and I have parked WHDeals.net onto that account so that i can use both the domians for promotion.... but now i feels like to make whdeals.net the primary domain and 301 webhosting-deals.com to whdeals.net but I want to know whether it affects the SERP rankings of webhosting-deals.com or Google just passes those rankings to whdeals.net...

    Please help me....

A 301 will pass any PageRank from one site to the next.

Rankings may or may not depending on several factors such as PR value and competitors SEO work.

Google & Yahoo had issues with 302 and site hijacking a couple years ago.

    a 302 is a temporary redirect.

    a 301 is a permanent redirect.

So no they are not truly the same and not viewed as the same by the search engines.

Probably best to stick to 301. Your webhost is also the last organization to use for this as they likely do not understand SEO aspects.

    :)

DO the 301 redirection. It will pass all the benefits of the redirected URL to the destination including PR and SERP rank.

If you redirect your domain to your new domain then you will get the PR and ranking benefits of your old domain if you don't make any remarkable change in your content. Once your new domain got indexed in search engines you will get your PR and ranking benefits for your old site. But in case you change your content completely you may not get benefits from old PR and rankings, because Google will see it as a completely new site.
