its generally acknowleged that netscape is less than 10% of browsers, if memory serves. I'm sure there are anomylous (sp?) sites (such as netscape.com), but as whole, no one uses netscape.

Who still uses Netscape… I doubt that they account for 1% of the browser market.

Probably. I didn't want to look it up, so I felt 10% was a safe guess :D

That may be the biased statistics for visitors to that particular website.
Looking at my site logs, and averaging the various browsers used to go to each of my sites, it seems that my visitors are close to 89% IE users.
Firefox is next with almost 7%.
Then the others like opera, netscape, etc finish it out.

Internet Explorer is still hugely used due to the fact that it comes with Windows and people just don't know enough about alternatives.

    I just checked one site.
    Netscape--- 0%
No netscape users have come to that site yet this month.
And that is a site with over 1200 visitors per day this month.

    Firefox... 4.7%
    Mozilla... 4.8%!

Not true. Netscape is different. They are still releasing new versions, as are Mozilla and Firefox. There are similarities but they are not the same.

    My stats show this:

    MS Internet Explorer 85.4 %
    Unknown 6.7 %
    Firefox 6.3 %
    Safari 0.6 %
    Mozilla 0.3 %
    Opera 0.3 %
    Netscape < 0.1 %

Around 25.0% users are using firefox. Is it safer than ie or is there something like that? I heard that firefox cannot be hijacked or can not write harmful adons.

I actually just started using Firefox yesterday (I was previously using Safari), and it seems to be a very stable browser. I think the most appealing aspect of Firefox are the plugins and extensions you can easily add.
