It's all a rediculous balancing act most of the time. If you're already in MSN don't completely abandon it. It's better than nothing.
Who knows, maybe one day MSN will have a larger portion of the market share and we will all be trying to rank better in it.
that's a good point. After all, they did partner with Sympatico, so in Canada 50% of high-speed home users' home pages are MSN by default.
Holy negativity! I get plenty of traffic from MSN. To this date there are over 62 million Hotmail users and if I am correct there is still a search box in the top right hand corner of the Hotmail login page, people still use MSN to search, especially Hotmail users. There are lots of things that cannot be found on Google, that can be found on MSN. For example: Do a search on Google for "louis vuitton logo" and then do the same on MSN. A clear logo cannot be found on Google, but on MSN it is on the first page. What I'm saying is, don't discount MSN, just because you're a 'big dog' and you rank high in Google.
I ain't discounting MSN, I am just saying don't give up your Google rankings to try to rank better in MSN. For some terms Google is giving 20 times the traffic that MSN gives me.
Actualy is providing 5% of all my traffic from search engine... if i am ranking on the same # for the same search keyword in Yahoo/Google/MSN , any others studies?!
But you've got to admit that Google is taking over the market currently and getting listed with them would be much more beneficial than MSN. Not saying that MSN isn't worth some time or that they can't make a come back.
I get about 250 unique hits per week from MSN alone. My website is #9 on google, #2 on yahoo and #1 on MSN.
Good going Many site get indexed very quickly on MSN by using a "Google type" site map or even just a list of Absolute URL, 1 per line and save it as a txt file. Then submit it to MSN (http:// search. msn. com/ docs/ submit. aspx?FORM=WSUT). It's easy. Yahoo is about the same way, http: // submit. search. yahoo. com/free / request but it takes about 2 weeks. But to do Google, you should set up a "google site map" account. It take a little longer but once it is set up, it then goes very quickly (~ once a week). Hope this helps...
