I do not think google have any impact on fonts you use, until you use common font-face. :)

I don't think Google have to do anything with the fonts.

Fonts themselves have no impact on rankings. Google basically ignores styling in the HTML and looks at the text that is being styled or formatted.

However, emphasizing certain keywords using italics and bolding does tell Google that those emphasized word are more important. So <strong>, <b>, and <i> I believe all have a very minor impact on ranking.

I prefer to do ALL styling in external CSS files and once in a blue moon use <strong> in the HTML to emphasize a keyword phrase on the page.

No,fonts don't impact your google rankings but be aware that fonts can impact your visitor's bounce rate and average time on site,if you use fonts that are not eye-friendly.

The best fonts are sans serif,georgia,verdana,arial...

While google has no preference towards any font, use of fonts in your site that match the fonts of the ads will help in better optimization and would improve your CTR.

I don't know if it has any effect or not but it always seems like it does. So I try to make my important keywords bold whenever possible. I figured it doesn't hurt....as for a font Google loves Wingdings....haha

Google ranking has nothing to do with fonts, only backlinks. If it did, Google would have said something already!

BTW, who knows if Trebuchet font is a cross-platform font? I really like it but I'm afraid it's only Windows compatible. Anyway, my second choise for font is Tahoma and then Verdana and lastly, Arial :)

Google is an index of CONTENT, so I see no reason why they should care what format that content is in.

I think Google still looks for styling because this is a very well known SE spam technique (to match the font color with the background, set very small text, hide text from visitors and display it for bots). But what I don't think it matters is the font family. If it's a standard one I think it's fine.

I guess fonts you use in your website affects more your visitors than google. Readable fonts attract more audience and create traffic.

Yes, Trebuchet is cross-platform, it came with my Mac.

Verdana has been shown to be the most readable at 10pt for websites. Arial at 12pt. Rather than think: will search engines like this? think more about your users. Choose on of these two fonts for a more readable page.

Personally though, I never use Arial. I think it's a very poorly designed font, it has lots of errors in the design. Basically it came about because Microsoft were too cheap to originally license Helvetica for Windows, so they had Arial designed, and it's a very poor mix of Franklin Gothic and Helvetica. Very ugly, IMHO.

When I was reading this thread, it makes me smile. Anyway, font has no impact at all to you PR. However, if you use unreadable fonts then that really has a great impact.
