    Hi Forum.

I have a question about PC security. Sometimes it can get a little overwhelming with folks recommending one product, then you read somewhere else and that same product gets a negative review from someone else.

So, can I show you security savvy guys what I do to protect my notebooks and get a little feedback on my security setup? I'd really like to know whether it's fine and dandy, or still needs work.

    Windows VISTA
    • Virus Checker: Avast Home V. 4.8 (Free)
    • Anti-spyware program: Ad-Aware (Free)
    • Anti-spyware program: SpywareBlaster (Free)
    • Anti-spyware program: Spy Sweeper (Paid)
    • Malware Protection: VISTA On
    • Firewall: Windows VISTA
    • Automatic Updating Status: On
    Windows XP Professsional
    • Virus Checker: AVG Free (Free)
    • Anti-spyware program: Ad-Aware (Free)
    • Anti-spyware program: SpywareBlaster (Free)
    • Anti-spyware program: Spybot Search & Destroy (Free)
    • Firewall: Zone Alarm
    • Automatic Updating Status: On
Side note: I've always used Spybot Search & Destroy (Free) in the past too, but when I got a VISTA machine, it wouldn't update. Same with AVG Antivirus, it also wouldn't update with VISTA at that time, which is why I switched to Avast. Avast seems to work well by the way.

The Zone Alarm Firewall always worked well with Windows XP, but once again, had issues with VISTA which is why I just use the Default VISTA Firewall. However, I recently read that Firewalls are not necessarily a good idea (first time I've read this ever!), so would be interested to see what you guys thing about that?

    Thanks in advance

Kaspersky is cheap and excellent .
I never try to find a second anti-virus or firewall software .

I agree with justinlorder. Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 is the cheap and best one.

That's interesting. I've never heard of it to be honest, but the page reads well.

    Thanks for posting.

Kaspersky Internet security 2009 is indeed the best, but NOD32 is also pretty good
