Geocities.com pages not accessible in India????

Hi,
Geocities is not accesible from karnataka bangalore india also. My site has been blocked. Though I can access through anonymous proxy www.vtunnel.com which I think routes through canada.

I am using triband by MTNL and can access geocities and blogspot...why would these be banned in India? Is there any official news about this?

 

Not working here as well. I had noticed this the day before yesterday but thought my geocities monthly/hourly bandwidth is up and hence unreachable.

 

Front page on digg. India has banned all blogging sites, geocities/*, *.blogspot.com etc

 

It does not work for me either. I am in Pune and I use TATA INDICOMM Broadband.

 

*.blogspot.com works here - using Iqara internet in Navi Mumbai.

Yes it has been confirmed in today's Times of India that after 11th July the DOT has directed the ISP's to block the blogging sites.

I think those who have to get access to any info can do it in so many different ways.Why only limited to a few blogging sites?

You can just do RDC to any remote computer(outside India) and go through the blogs which are banned over here in India.

I use BSNL DataOne. For the last 7 days geocities websites are totally banned. Blogspot is OK for now.

 

I am with DataOne too, can't access both geocities and blogspot. Which city are you from?

I wonder how Indian bloggers are posting to their blogspot blogs...

 

now you people need proxy sites; blogspot was also blocked in Pakistan earlier this year

 

You can continue posting your blogs in blogspot as you can access the site blogger.com . Only thing is you won't be able to view it.

hey wht abt the guys who were using adsense on there geocities page..

are there sites like geocities which allow google adsense?

 

Adsense are still runing on geocities only they (geocities pages) cant be accessed from India .
Visitors outside indian can see your geocities pages but you wont get indian traffic

you can visit your geocities or blogspot, typepad thru proxy
