Hello, I recently had a programmer install OpenX Banner on my website. In this program Adsense ads are being displayed. After this change my CTR went from around 1.5 - 2% to over 6% but during this same period of time of my CTR increasing my PPC has dropped greatly from an average of 6 cents per click to 1 - 1.5 cents per click. Can anyone help me figure this out?
prior to the change I had 1 160x600 and a text 4 ad across the top. I now have two 160X600 a text 4 ad on the side and a 468X60 in the header
that right there seems the reason you have higher ctr = more ads now then before lower cpc= more ads then before the less amount of ads on a page the higher the cpc... even say a 468 x 60 has higher cpc then a 336x 280 has, though it may have less ctr you have to weigh whats better for your site, more ctr with lower cpc or lower ctr with higher cpc, i myself go with the smaller ads, 1 per page on the best spot of the page, ctr is around 1.8% but average cpc is about 50 cents
Well the thinking with OpenX was to get other advertisers on the site but for now we have it keyed to adsense. So as I have more paid advertisers taking up the spots where adsense is now displayed, that should take care of the low ctr, correct?
