Yup, we can login to typepad or blogspot directly to do the postings. For viewing the blogs, we will have to access them via proxy.

But this is a very shitty decision from Indian Govt.

Congress Govt of India Is a miserable failure....
Fuck them to ban Blogs.. I dont think this ban is going to last long.
This is serious violation of the rights of Information and freedom of speech.

However Indian People are regretting having a dummy Govt with a PM with no balls

Thank god that all of my blogs have own domain names so I can easily view them.
But we must raise our voices against this..

Totally agreed, i myself moved all my blogs to my own server and switched over to WP long ago.

But i have a few friends who are really struck by this fuckin decision by Indian Govt.

They just want to be in news, just to show off that they are 'seriously' doing something.

I want to, i will lookout for a proper channel to do that. I have a few editor friends in some reputed newspapers, i will contact them and see what we can do.

    What can we do?

I am not sure if we can file a 'Class Action Law Suite' against DoT!!

Something has to be done!! If anyone here has any idea about course of action, then i am with you.

Sumit we cant do anything, we can only use proxies to go through our blogs and practice other get-arounds, direct access is going bye-bye though

All of my blogs are on my own server but for the people who were relying only on blogspot or typepad, its very difficult for them to move the blogs to their own servers. Plus traffic would be dead on the local (Indian) blogs as no one in India can access these blogs which is a major factor IMO.

    Hello friends,
I came to know the follwoing:

    1. On July 13th the DoT has instructed the ISPs to block 17 websites.

    2. They include some blogs, some websites hosted on Yahoo!'s Geocities.com and some other websites

    3. these websites were propagating hatred and anti india messages.

    4. ISPs unable to block a particular blog from say blogspot.com , put a blanket ban of blogspot.com

Please updates this thread with more news and views on this matter.

this makes no sense whatsoever, why would the Indian government want to disadvantage its own web(blog)masters?
