Monetizing the Swine Flu Pandemic

Discussion in 'ClickBank' started by rikat, Apr 29, 2009.

Just spent the evening chatting with some buds... turns out we've all been quietly investigating ways to monetize this deadly puppy for the last few days.

Sort of sad, but that the way a marketers brain works, eh? ;)

Brings up the topic of "trend marketing".

Anyone PPC'ers here practicing trend marketing?

Do you sell orphans "how to get parents" guides too?. There's a limit to where you can take this stuff.

Immune system boosters are the go. Though I've heard of people trying it and being slapped hard on Adwords, but you can try other traffic methods.

Marketers will always try to market to the masses.

With all the hysteria around the swine flu there are going to be a lot of people looking online for advice and answers.

Rightfully or wrongfully , products will be made to take advantage of this and it's really just up to you if you want to jump on in.

Thousands die from regular flu outbreaks every year. It is the media who are taking this right out of proportion - all for ratings and sales.
Online marketers need not feel bad for monetizing it, the media are the ones who are cleaning up.

There is only a fine line between using anxiety and fear to sell an ebook that may clear acne and another selling cancer or virus cures. It's just a minute difference, but that's what prevents pharmacies selling you tic tacs instead of the real thing.

I bet the guy selling the swine flu info, is praying that the swine flu spreads as much as possible so that he can make sales

I was also thinking of writing an ebook on how to prevent the swine flu but then I realized I dont have enough knowledge about these things and I am not going to sell crap to people. If you are a doctor dealing with pandemic deseases go for it, but if you have no idea what you are talking about and your product wont help anyone except of your own pocket then forget it.

Sometimes you have to consider the Karma aspect of life.

    Someone markets swine flu crap.

Their lover / family member / best friend then gets the swine flu and dies.....

    Life works in mysterious ways.....

If someone buys your product, and they die following your methods - you could be to blame. Do you really want that?

Yes, do to others what you will want to do unto you. The evil that men do lives within and after them. Just my 2 kobo

I don't believe this is unethical at all. If someone got infected, I would still recommend they take antivirals. But even drugs are not bulletproof. Such natural strategies could be advantageous whether taking drugs or not.

In fact that is wrong. Those with weak immune systems are less likely to be infected and die. Those with strong immune systems are the ones in more danger.

Why would I want to order something over the internet that could take weeks to arrive which the WHO is probably handing out for free?.
