    Well the question is in the title - Im asking this coz recently Ive been trying quite a lot of different types of food while in Japan.

    Some stuff Ive tried (ok I admit its not that daring :eek:):

    * Raw chicken liver
    * Raw horse meat sushi
    * Fish testicals or whatever you call them - were the sperm is produced in fish...
    * Fugu, i.e. blowfish
    * Strands of fish intestine in this paste made of fish organs... Blaah this one was NASTY!!!!!!

    Anyway lets hear your experiences :D

    Lol... Most of the stuff I ate in that list I either got tricked into eating or was too drunk to notice at first.

    For example my brother told me to eat the fish testicals - it was mashed and reformed into this nice looking white (?) square... Looked quite good so I tried a bit. As soon as I did he was like "it's a bit creamy huh? Thats because its fish testicals"....

    He didnt even bother eaten his one...

    Bastard...

    Thats pretty gross too...

    Just remembered one more. Do you guys know what sashimi is? Its where they slice raw fish and you just eat that with soy sauce. Sort of like sushi without the rice.

    Well last year I went on holiday with my dad and he ordered sashimi - the fish head was still moving and body twitching when they served it... It really puts you off eating it

    *edit* I heard that in Hong Kong (or somewhere like that) they get a live monkey, slice open its skull at the top and pour in hot oil. They then scoop it out and eat it using a spoon... I thought it must be rubbish but several of my chinese friends assure me its true... Had anyone heard of or tried this???

    no but heard of that. Dont know anywhere where you can get that here in shanghai. Sashimi is more popular then the sushi with rice i think, but never seen them serve any part of the fish cept the slice you eat. Never got the head or anything. Seems like maybe the monkey head thing was indian, remember indiana jones?

    Here in china people always put a whole fish head into soup cuz its supposed to be the best tasting part, therefore making the soup more tasty.. You get used to it i guess, but if the fish was still moving.. nasty

    Yeah in major cities in Japan they rarely serve the head etc... Its just I went to the country side where they do stuff differently and we got the whole fish (the body sliced) on a plate...

    Oh its Indian? I didnt realise...

    nasty.. oh one thing they really like here is big blood.. its in a gelatin form. Always eat that in soup and stuff, disgusting. I think the most disgusting thing ive eaten is this pudding that confucious said you should eat every day to be healthy.. some chinese people still do. Its like purple, and totally horrible. Oh shit i almost forgot about smelly tofu, stinks horribly bad and doesnt taste to good either. Lots of chinese compare it to smelly cheese (lots of chinese hate cheese).

    Rocky mountain oysters and rattle snake. For the sake of trying it at a group dinner one night at the Big Texan.

    They are both similar to chicken, though that's not enticing enough to make me try them again :D

    I got you all beat, I'm not exactly sure of all the ingredients but it's a nasty concoction of disgusting stuff. I think they called it a Big Mac.

    When I was a kid I ate live cockroaches. Some times I want to try one just so I can remind myself what they were like. :D:D:D:D
