    Hi,

How many forum posting should be done for seo purposes.

Currently, I am actively involved in 7 forums, should I involve in more forums or is it sufficient?

Does too much forum posting have any negative effect on ranking?

    Please Guide.

It doesn't matter how many forums you have joined and how many post you have made as long as your not spamming the forum.

At the end of the day, the question you should ask is, "Are my backlinks appropriate to my site?" - so if you're going onto an Audio/Video forum to post links to a Dog Care website, it won't give you much of a benefit SEO-wise based on what I have seen.

If you're trying to help a Dog Care website rank higher, you want to be posting in a pet/dog-related forum so that the link is relevantto the content on the site.

If Im not mistaken You mean If forum posting is good for Your site ranking? if it is so I must say that forum posting can be useful if You have a signature and the sig. links to your site are dofollow links as DP links, but in fact they do not play a great role for ranking. They help but not so much.Actually the more links to Your site the higher site ranking.

Don’t care of how many forums you have taken part in and how many posts you have. It’s important thing that you need to focus on your quality content, deepest backlinks, and relevant websites to drive your traffic in high PR. Make sure that your posts avoid spamming the forums

I think alternatively posting in different forums would give you more exposure rather than single forum.

I've read that once you have one link from a forum signature then that is all the benefit that Google wil give you - others say that if you have a 1000 or so links from a forum then Google will give you more benefit than from a single link. Others say that you should just "top up" your forum postings once a month or so so that new postings replace the ones that get archived as time goes by.

Take your pick - personally I post when I have the odd 5 minutes (as now) and I look for threads I'm interested in rather than just spamming lots. I also go for forums (like dp) where I can learn loads.

I create a profile on many forums and post there occasionally but on a daily basis it's just 2-3 forums that take my time. I guess these forums have enough discussions going on to keep a person busy the whole day.

the essence of forum will not just depend on the number of links you can throw but on the way how you participate and give a lil contribution on it.

The main thing isn't how many posts. The only thing that matters is how well the particular forum is crawled and by what search engines. Keyword density and other things also make a difference. Some forums you will get a (temporary) listing almost immediately. On other forums you will get nothing. I say temporary because many times they are just that, but... I have had forum posts on certain forums actually list higher than my own SEO. It was always temporary though.

I don't know why anyone would mention spamming. It's a moot point. If you spam on almost any forum you get banned anyway. Not really worth harping on.

This person has a legitimate question about a common technique for new websites to get listed right away on search pages. It works to some degree. Comments on certain blogs also have some effect. The "spamming" I would warn against is relying on these posts as your only SEO effort. In that case a search engine could label you as a forum or blog spammer. That simply means that you are using that as the only way to get backlinks. It is nothing permanent though.

A good balance of content, proper website navigation and design, significant backlinks, and time. You have to be patient. Nothing will come instantaneously and there is no magic bullet. Of all those the most important is solid content.
    Hope that helps ;)

Too much forums means too much traffic. Dont you like trafiic. SEO purpose any number of forum posting does not have any negative value. Google knows how forum works.

My thoughts on negative links is google will think you are cheating only if your links bounce from a couple daily into the thousands for a day then come right back down. I have read this on a couple of blogs and it makes since I mean twitter I am sure as it was taking off was getting imense amounts of natural links and google was able to tell the diffrence so I guess that if you keep a steady amount of links going to your website daily they will not think you are using a link farm. The thing I hate about google though is no one really knows I have also been told that anything over 1000 is bad who knows. I do know it does not hurt you forever and you will come back if you slow the link building down.

Forum and blog backlinks simply should be part of a larger strategy. They should not be your only SEO consideration as they only count for so much anyway. They can give you a quick boost to the front page on a topic specific keyword, but that is not always the case.

Just one part of your strategy, not anything to put your bets on though.
