Age requirement to buy a domain at godaddy?

Do you have to be 18+ to buy a domain from godaddy or it doesn't matter? Basically, I was hacked and the hacker transferred my domain to their account and I have fax my ID along with some signed forms but I'm 17 so would that void the domain purchase in the first place?

I think if you have been hacked you should submit a support ticket to godaddy explaining what happened. Godaddy shouldn't ask you for your age or anything like that though they may ask you for some id verification so that they can prove that it was you.

Yea..You might need your parents to do this for you, but seriously.... It's the internet! Just tell them your 18....If they ask for id confirmation....Then your screwed, but I doubt they will.

I truly doubt they are going to use the age requirement argument, as they are simply using the ID to see if you are the person who legally purchased the domain. They put that requirement in there to cover themselves, not so they can say "gotcha!" and steal your domain every time they find out you're a few months shy of legal age.

No they will not take your domain because you are 17. Contracts entered into by minors are voidable by the minor, not by the other party. The law is to protect the minor, not the person who contracts with the minor. I would not give it much concern and would forward a copy of your ID if requested.

Age makes the domain voidable usually - not void. What you need to be careful of is the terms of use. Read it to see if they have a limitation though. Browntown is right on target.
