Microsoft earn Big money from Windows XP OR Windows Vista???

    According to my thinking, Microsoft earn 5 time more money from Windows XP as compared to Vista... what You do think? give your opinion.

    In what way does MS make more money from XP than Vista? Are you talking about overall income or current?

    Sales of Vista were in the single digit percentage of overall OS sales last year. XP was significantly higher but I don't recall any numbers.

    Officially they stopped support for Windows XP . But still most of the Microsoft customers are using the same . Now they have tightened their piracy policy so that each machine is shipped with genuine windows vista version . So considering Vista cost and increased pirated versions of Windows XP , Microsoft would have made better with Windows Vista .

    I don't think users like Vista a lot and XP has been a around for quite long so overall XP has made them more money but I am not sure of the current scenario.

    They made more money off of XP as of how thing are right now, however they are trying to make the most money as they can off of vista, hence the obsoleting of XP, that and vista wasn't as much of a success as they predicted it seems. I also personally believe that all the "problems" with XP SP3 that were encountered were just a scheme to push for Vista to an extent.

    Are you sure that Microsoft has stopped Support for Windows XP? I believe they will support it till 2014. Here is officially posted.

    Windows XP has been the longest OS that Microsoft still support. I believe Windows XP came out in 2001.

    Windows 7 is not much all different then vista, aside from the obvious graphical changes. I think the poster who was talking about increasing stalk prices nailed it for this case. I believe ms tried to pump something out too quick just for a quick buck, when there is obviously nothing revolutionary about the new OS. Why would we need another one already which works pretty much the same as vista. There is no other explanation.

    Anyways go download a copy of windows 7 and check it out first hand.

    Definitely Microsoft made more money from XP compare to Vista. XP are sold since 2001, while Vista are sold starting 2007.
