Question About Page Rank

Discussion in 'Google' started by kbeus21, Apr 27, 2009.

I have been reading alot about page rank in the forum and it seems that most people believe page rank has no meaning. The question is if google does not place any importance on Page Rank then why do they keep it updated every three months? Why don't they just get rid of it?

PR is just a part of SERP. It's still contribute to ranking, but nowadays google had loosen the power of PR, and give other factors the same value for SERP.

Probably to keep the focus and energy of webmasters diverted and divided, since in the absence of PR, wouldn't our community be concentrating totally on serps, making the life difficult for them? ;)

PR is just one small factor in figuring page value in the eyes of Google. I have not seen any value in purchasing directly off of PR, rather looking at back links in Google/Yahoo, and figuring out indexed pages. And as of late, how long the domain has been around seems to be having a positive impact on my SERPs.

If you have great if you don't don't worry about.

Pagerank is just a measure of how popular your website is.

More links you have the more popular are.

Popularity doesn't = traffic so don't get too caught about it.

Only time you should worry if you have PR 0 or NA for the homepage of an established site.

This could mean a penalty from Google.

It is interesting that Google gives more value to older domains. Is it just age of domain or because older domains naturally have more backlinks gained for many years. What if I have domain for last 10 years and I updated website only once?If I suddenly start posting articles does Google gives them high value and rank them high in SERP?

pr is nothing but ensure the value of page in google compare to other website and pages, so they can manipulate the popular site among the all.

They might as well do away with it. To me it means nothing. I have high PR sites that dont get hardly any traffic and dont rank good for keywords but I got new sites that have no PR yet and they get 6-7,000 UV's a month.
I guess its just a basic ranking for importance of page but I still don't get it it really myself cause if you do searches you will find lower PR sites above high PR sites in SE's.
