Why can't I stay put? I was ranked #1 last night for failing businesses. Now I have dropped to #3... Why? I did not change anything!!!!!!!! Seems I have to keep my site pumped full of keyword steroids just to keep it in place... Whatever, this is getting old fast...
google has been working in the recent days to its search algorithm and this is the result of that - you may witness some change in the ranking positions - we all have to face this - nothing else we can do. other ways are to keep trying and interacting with the industry people to know what is actually working for the moment and what is not!! as this is the only way to know what is going on with the google search algorithm. hope this helps...
Interact with Google tech people. Never thought of that.. For some reason they are kinda viewed as the enemy...
Since it is something beyond your control, just put aside the issue and continue to work on the site. It's part of the search engine business.
The fact your page was n.1 for x term and went down means that Google decided that some other page/website is more related to that term. Even if it is a G-Dance it's not forcing them to get your rank back, I'd advice to work harder to get it back if not now, In the future
ppl wid high rep on DP r really more than just seo..they r good advisers on any damn topic...often near to perfection!
There's plenty of reasons for ranking changes even when you make no changes. Some of the reasons include for serp changes include everflux, algorithim changes, and competition from compeitors. You also need to understand that your rankings may be different from datacenter to datacenter as Google may be in the process of updating the search index. Correct. There's more people breathing down your neck.
You should have heard the saying...'It is harder to maintain the top position than getting there!' Reaching to the top spot is not the end to your efforts, rather it is the beginning of more treacherous journey! So keep working at it.... Regards, RightMan
i went down on almost all my keywords and saw a huge drop in the traffic, i've been wondering if its because of google dance.
There is nothing you can do about it. It is sometimes called the Google dance. A situation where the savers are updated. During this period, you may notice a difference in your rankings. Further more no depending on the Google saver that is processing your search query, your website may appear on slightly different positions. Don't panic, it is normal.
I've just noticed a huge increase in rankings on one of my sites. The site hadn't been ranking well since the big daddy update in 2005. Today the site has 1st page results for all its targeted keywords.
I'd be glad of #3 right now, I was riding high at #1 January through March, then went down to #7 in April and my visitors dropped fron 3000+ a day to 3-400. Even so I'm going to carry on as others have suggested, building on a nice site that will hopefully come back stronger than ever a few months down the line.
