Can People See My Searches?

Recently, I found a niche that I was looking to exploit and saw that the domain name containing the exact keyword search phrase that I wanted to use was unowned.

I determined that the keyword phrase (domain name) was unowned by searching on fresh drop and tdnam (or whatever GoDaddy calls it these days...) for an appropriate domain name.

For reasons that are irrelevant... on that day, when I found the perfect domain name, I did not purchase. One week later (yesterday) I decided to go ahead and purchase it. However, someone bought it the day after I "discovered" it by searching fresh drop and tdnam.

It seems too coincidental that someone would have bought this domain name the very next day after I searched for it as it is a fairly obscure niche. Is it possible that people can see the results of your searches on either fresh drop or tdnam?

I have heard of this happening before and can't remember how they know. There is a big business for rounding up available domain names that they know people will and are looking at purchasing.

yes it does happen. It's a very ugly and dirty practice to taste domains searched by people. A registrar has the possibility to register to domain for only a few days for a few pennies, see if it gets any traffic and drop it later if it doesn't. I would like to know though who did this? Who registered the domain? And where did your search for it exactly? Did godaddy start doing this? I am one of their customers and if they are dishonest I need to know so I don't buy from them in the future. I don't need such surprises.

I also use Godaddy a lot and would drop them if I found out they engaged in this practice.
