My site has 2500 backlinks vs #1 with 19 and FLASH????

Discussion in 'Google' started by allthesp, Apr 25, 2009.

Why is my site number 3? According to Yahoo I have 2500 links, while the number 1 spot only has 19. PLUS, their site is entirely flash based.

    How is this happening?

You'd have to show us what links you have in order to answer that question as well as disclose the URLs for both sites.

Cannot answer other than to offer speculation. Only thing I can think of offhand is their 19 links are MUCH stronger than your 2500.

If you provide more info, I can answer more thoroughly

Perhaps you should think if your site is new or not and if your site has been penalized in the pass before.

My site is only 3 months old, and theirs is 10.5 years. Mine has never been penalized, and for the most part I have all the links that they have. Could the age really be that large of a factor?

Yes , site's age and backlinks' age are important factors that affect SERP. These can not be changed!

Really not helpful to ask the question without saying what the sites are, there are dozens of factors that can influence SERPS. You can't properly estimate what's wrong -- and you know what the sites are. How can anyone here estimate better than you when they have 100 times less information?

ussual cases, 19 link are more powerfull that 2500 link exchange links.
Most likely the #1 has more powerfull, relevant links.
    Probably with fresh content also

Just check his backlinks and get a link from there as well, that should do the trick

Just remember that yahoo says 2500, but these are not unique sites. You should try http://www.marketleap.com/publinkpop/ it will give you a little better idea of the amount of websites linking to yours.

it must be the age. 10.5 years shows that the site has been there for a long time and is definitely value, and you may be in the "sandbox"

It's the age of the domain, 3 months is nothing compare to 10 + years. Google want stability and consistency. You are a brand new site give it time. Could be also the links have more authority on your competitors site.

    The Problem is content.

You have only 4 pages listed in google while the other site has 29 page

    Check on google site: domain.com

If you want to be number 1 for a keyword use squidoo or hubpages and link to your site.
