Can vendors disguise their real names?

It is my understanding that after a buyer has completed purchase for a Clickbank product, they are taken to a receipt page where it displays the vendor's contact details (including their name).

A lot of authors use pen names for their products, so there is an obvious disconnect if the buyer sees they are in fact buying from a man instead of the supposed female author.

Is there any way around this?

Yes there is. Go to 'Account Settings' on the clickbank interface.

You will see there 'Account Information' , and 'Contact Information'

Just change the name under 'Contact Information' to whatever you like, that is the name shown on the receipt.

However, this is also the name CB will use for your cheques.

If you intend to get paid by cheque, this will be problematic if you use a fake name. Not an issue if you are receiving direct deposit or wire.

Incorrect, the name on the checks goes under 'Account Information' Where you enter the Payee Name,

Under Contact information you can enter a different name

Well that's what I remember reading in their TOS some time ago, but you have had much more experience as a pub, so I stand corrected :)

I use an LLC partly because of this reason. I don't really like my real name "out there" any more than necessary.

Recommended for everyone. In my state, registering my LLC cost $200. That $200 is a small price to pay for privacy.

Okay guys, thanks for the replies. I actually received a reply from Clickbank for the same question that might be of interest to some of you:

"Thank you for your email. We actually recommend not disclosing your personal information with the customer. We do request a contact on your website so customer can get a hold of you if they need too."

Hope that clears things up a little!

I just did this and it made no difference. Does it take a day or two to update "live" perhaps?

Sorry to bump the thread, but I was wondering if there was any more feedback to be had on this topic? Specifically:

    a) Do many of you use a fake payee name if you are receiving your money via direct deposit?
    b) Is it confirmed that the contact name is the one that shows up, and not the payee name?
