Greetings... I've come across a keywork with a good niche that is showing Overture top bids at $20 or more. The word was searched 3,000 times last month. What is a good would to make a ball park figure of how much profit I could make if I were ranked in the top 30 of Google with a traffic of 50 per day? Of course google won't be paying me $20 p/click (or anything close to it).
A lot of the big ticket keywords will only run their campaigns for search only. Additionally, the higher the price, the higher the chance they'll have an experienced PPC professional doing the work for them. In terms of ball park figures, we can't really give you anything like that - you'll have to find out for yourself. However, it looks like you're trying really hard to enter some very competitive markets. Why not try something half as competitive, but with double the traffic?
Anything other than the top 10 will bring you very little traffic for a 3,000 overture. I have some 30K overture keywords that rank between 9-12 and the traffic is minimal compared to the total search. As stated, very few advertisers are going to bid $30 on a keyword for content search (the adsense ads that would show on your site) and smart pricing (how the traffic converts) will subject you to much lower pricing. It is likely that even if they run the ads on the content network, they would bid much less because of problems with click fraud. Some $28 top keywords on overture pay in the $1 to $2 range with adsense, but there is really no accurate way to estimate with all the variables. I certainly wouldn't expect more than $2, and you could very well get a lot less.
all the posters above have very good points that are true IMO. I have heard (but no one can confirm) that publishers get 60-70 percent of the ppc, again provided it is the bid price for the content network, which is not likely to be the $20 ppc you see. IMO, go for a topic you are actually interested in and have a passion for and build and expand on it to sustain you as thousands before you have targetted high paying keywords to build their empire. you can do very well just building a site that visitors like, and has relevant info.
$20 per click in adsense. Anyone who is paying that in a content network in Google is either foolish or she is a house wife who are dreaming big without learning the tricks of trade. People like these make the whole system vunerable. They spend out of world and drive the cost of CPC ups and then we people have to match. What the hell. I am a adsense publisher. But I would hate to see $20 in adsense. Becaue I am adwords advertiser too and thats what I am. I use only these two system not even Overture. So Please do not pay exorbitant CPC. For god sake. I found one that was bidding 49$ last month, but I checked it today and bidding is down to 15$....alot of those keywords have to do with whats going on in the world...for example, Vioxx was a lot stronger keyword a month ago, until the jury came back and said its maker wasnt liable...now its only pennies...just an example.
