Their are many rumors of a possible Twitter acquisition by Google. While I like Twitter as a standalone company I think Google will be the best option for it. I will hate twitter going to Facebook, MySpace (News Corp), Microsoft or other. What do you think will be the best owner for Twitter and if Google buy it how much will the cost be? My guess is around $700-900 millions.
I think it would be great if twitter could come up with a revenue model on their own. But if they want to be bought out I think Google would be the best.
Hello... You should take out Yahoo as they cant even pay there employees let alone spend millions on any site. Microsoft should buy it... laterz malcolm
You are probably right. Even if yahoo wanted twitter I don't think they can afford it. I think the 3 most likely buyers will be Google, Microsoft and MySpace.
Personally I hope that Google doesn't buy twitter, they (google) already have too much power and monopoly online. Since yahoo is almost broke I'd love for Microsoft to purchase it. It would be great to have another player online apart from google. I'd love to see Microsoft buy yahoo, twitter and more shares of facebook to finally have a google competitor.
Google may buy twitter. If I'm not mistaken, the guys from twitter created BLOGGER.com then google bought BLOGGER in the 2003...
If Big G will buy twitter, things in the internet will become boring There would be no competition at all.
No google should not buy Twitter, I think what those guys have going is great for them, and will definitely set them for life later on down the road. Google is going to create a monopoly in the future, I can see it now. Mcdonalds will be called "McGoogles" FML.
NO. I can't say I am a particular fan of the concept of Twitter but I am starting to think that Google is losing site of what makes it so great i.e. its simplicity and the fact that you get the best returns. This is shown by its latest timeline developments which to me are pointless for 90% of searches. I would hate it if when you Googled something you got 5 returns of peoples "Tweets".
I believe there are far too many acquisitions of promising tech by the big guys and I *really* hope that twitter stays independent. Sure it would probably benefit from an injection of cash to stabilise the platform as its popularity continues but then that raises the spectre or monetisation... So on balance it probably will get swallowed up by Big G *sigh*
Google already has a property that they are figuring out how to make money from, Youtube, I don't think they want another....what they do want, is the ability to properly spider twitter, I think the information they gather would be invaluable....they would know exactly what the people are taking about and what the trends are....
How exactly is google and twitter competing with each other? I can see how facebook or myspace would be competition, but google?
