Hi, We are lucky to have DP as a resource. Ask a question on so many subjects and get a variety of answers. This is the Information Age, but what type of info would you actually pay $ for? Why pay when you can just find help on forums? How do information selling companies ever get any of your money??? Thanks
Hi All The answer is - any information that you don't know, but want to know badly and quickly enough, or is worth less than your time is worth. Information is the new gold, and it's better than gold, because its lighter and it can cost nothing to find it. So, an example would be... I wanted some information the other day about how to do a particular thing. I searched and initially found someone selling an ebook for $19.99 which explained how to do what I wanted to do. However I decided that I could find the information for free. The upshot was - before I knew it I had spent 3 hours looking down blind alleys and rubbish websites without finding the answer. I had posted questions on forums and had got leads which sent me off in the wrong direction. Now I have no doubt that I could have found the answer had I kept searching, but I ended up going back to the original ebook and buying it. As soon as I downloaded it - I found the answer I was looking for. So in an attempt to save myself a measly $19.99 I had waisted 3 hours of my life. Trust me when I say that time is your only real currency and once it's spent you don't get it back - and my time is worth way more than $19.99 for 3 hours. I won't make the same mistake again - I'll just buy the book outright and if it does not solve my problem I'll ask for a refund. Regards Baz
Often I will 'trim' when quoting a post (so it doesn't repeat all the same content). In this case, I quoted 100% because I felt like "I was there with you wasting the same three hours." In other words, I couldn't agree more, and there is still hope for companies wanting to sell information to "smart people." Thanks
People will pay for almost any kind of information. The post by ReviewFire was right on! There is the "I can find it for free" crowd that will spend hours and even days to dig for the information... then there is the "I'll gladly pay $20 for information if I can learn it right now" crowd. The latter group of people value their time more than money and that's the crowd we, as information publishers, cater to. Try and find a group of people that have disposible income and are almost rabid about their interests. It won't do you much good to cater to a group of people that are poor. Remember that always. Anyone who follows this advice should be heading in the right direction (to sell information). I will remember. Thanks
