Sorry Corwin, but I am going to have to declare victory here by means of Godwin's law, regardless of how applicable your quote from Mein Kampf may or may not be. I would add the comment that just because Hitler slaughtered several million innocent people, that doesn't make everything he did wrong.
"Rasmussen Reports is one of America's most insightful and analytical sources of data and analysis on U.S. public opinion. They are fearlessly independent, always ahead of the curve, and offer unique insights unavailable anywhere else. I rely on them to keep me informed about what is happening today and is likely to happen tomorrow." Douglas E. Schoen, Democratic pollster (former pollster for President Clinton) "One clear lesson from the Republican victory of 2004 and the Democratic victory of 2006 is that the best place to look for polls that are spot on is RasmussenReports.com." Michael Barone, Senior Writer for U.S. News & World Report and co-author of The Almanac of American Politics I also noticed that, while I referenced Rasmussen directly, Zibblu referenced a biased (and poorly written) blog post. Afraid of showing is REAL, honest data, Zibblu? O.K., then, I was curous that Zibblu was so very afraid to directly reference Gallup's results. Could it be he doesn't like what they say? Well, let's look at Gallop's graph: http://www.gallup.com/poll/113980/Gallup-Daily-Obama-Job-Approval.aspx >gasp<! It looks SURPRISINGLY like Rasmussen's graph!!! Gee, NOW I know why Zibblu didn't driectly reference Gallop's poll! Is it because Gallop agrees with Rasmussen??? Hmmm.... O.K., since Zibblu seems to shake with fear when confronted with facts, let's show him some: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/us/general_election_mccain_vs_obama-225.html 2008 Election Results: Obama 52.9% McCain 45.6% Poll results from the night BEFORE the election: Gallop: Obama: 55% MaCain: 44% Rassmussen: Obama: 52% McCain: 46% >gasp<! Rassmussen accurately predicted the election results the night before the election!!! And, if you look at the spread, Gallup had the WORST, most inaccurate prediction of the 2008 election! Zibblu, Rassmussen is now the standard and has been since 2000. Even the Democrats say so. When people talk about Bush's or Obama's approval ratings they are talking about Rassmussen. Even the Democrats quote Rassmussen! That's why the Rassmussen's are the only ones that matter today. They are the standard. Get a grip. Obama is slowly losing popularity, the only thing that's happening is the left wingers are throwing a tantrum and getting louder and louder as the rest of the country is more and more unhappy with his economic policies. Oh, BTW - if you look a Democrat strategist James Carville, you'll see that he regularly quotes Rasmussen. Let's see if Zibblu is going to cry now
O.K., so you agree that the Hitler quote is completely applicable??? And, although you admit that I am right and you are wrong, are you begging me to let you off on an unofficial informal voluntary "rule" - to wit, you say that it's O.K. if you lie with a left-wing Hitler-like cruelty towards those that disagree with you, because a fictional rule says it's unfair to point out those Hitler-like lies which that left-wing Hitler invented??? Are you saying that it's O.K. for you to lie using Hitler's methods because it's unfair to point out those methods? By your standard, Godwin's should have been invoked in 1941 and the USA never should have gotten involved in WW2. Right? (BTW, Godwin's applies to Analogies - not factual comparisons. That's why even the unofficial informal Wikipedia entry calls it Godwin's Rule of Nazi Analogies) Gee, Obamanation. It seems like you are more concerned with looking good, then being right. It's O.K. for you to lie in the same manner as Hitler, as long as you can get away with it - correct? But that's your feeling about politics, isn't it? Would you agree that Obama's popularity is more important than doing the right thing for the country?
So you do not care that he told a blatant lie to get into power? As Glen Beck said yesterday, do not swing the political pendulum too much, either right or left because you will have voter backlash. We had voter backlash and that is why we ended up with Obama. But on the course that he is, we are going to have an even greater backlash during the midterm and 2012 elections. Just pray that the democrats still control a few seats so the right does not have everything they want....or we are screwed.....well we already are.
When hit with reality the weak run, hide or just cover their ears. Hard to do when some choose to ignore one side. It's not a philosophy, its a tried and true ideology that moves people forward. Rasmussen is hardly something I would call "unknown". I don't spin reality. It would appear so. Of course people with ignorant ideas like that tend to also label anyone that disagrees with Obama as Racist. Name calling is another method of retort when a point is debunked... I find this pattern of behavior more and more common in discussions concerning politics and religion. It seems when and if an agreement cannot be made, or an opinion cannot be swayed instead of respecting that opinion, the appropriate response is to attack the person whose opinion it is. Apparently knocking someone down is supposed to some how achieve two purposes: 1. Make the name caller feel more like a man. 2. Belittle and embarrass the person they are name calling for having an independent thought/opinion. Unbeknownst to the name caller, they end up belittling and embarrassing themselves. Like I said, I've been here in 1998. Given the contributions, longevity and nature of my posts which range from Shawn's billing software to HTML, SEO, Directories, etc., all over this forum, I'd hardly consider myself a "troll" by definition.
Obama's approval rating is now up to 64% - the highest it's been since March 22nd. It'd really be good for the sanity of those on the right if they'd just accept the fact that Barack Obama is extremely popular. Because this whole denying of reality thing just isn't going to get them very far.
Sooo... has Obama's rating matched Bush's lowest yet? Because the entire future of the Republican party kinda relies on that happening. Wake me when that happens and enjoy the empty arguments from the right till then
Exactly right! Oh sure the right will put out their lies and smear to try and bring Obama's ratings down, but intelligent Americans will see right through it. Check out this nonsense from the right wing smear merchants at the LA Times. http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fgw-castro-obama23-2009apr23,0,2952733.story These guys really expect us to believe Obama's new openness to Cuba was anything but a glowing success? As the National Black Caucus told us after their recent meeting with Castro, he is looking for ways to help President Obama. I feel confident that once we drop that silly 50 year old embargo, put in place for reasons most of us cant even remember, Cuba/Castro will immediately cease any behavior that allegedly displease the United States. If the LA times keeps printing unverified rumors like this, most of us sane people are going to have to add the filter to their information that we add to what we read in the tabloids.
Ah... Make that a 65% approval rating for President Obama. America has heard the right wing temper tantrums and we've decided that the right wing is no longer relevant. Change or be left behind.
You can keep the change, I'll gladly be left behind. Does that mean I get charged extra for kool-aid?
rhino56 - Clinton had very high approval ratings when he left office (despite the Monica Lewinsky nonsense.) Not all Presidents are George W. Bush. I think people (without much knowledge of history) have this idea that all Presidents are like Bush. They aren't. Bush was monumentally awful. A bit off topic: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/04/22/shepard-smith-torture_n_190350.html Shepard Smith saying "we are America and we don't fucking torture" on Fox News. Beautiful stuff. More and more people are realizing that the Bush, Cheney, and the rest were not just bad, they were actually criminal. If our laws mean anything they will all end up in prison where they belong. --- ncz_nate --- the "kool aid" thing is getting really, really, REALLY old. Add something interesting to the debate instead.
Here, here. Now that would make us all look up to America once again! They don't even have to go to prison. Just put it all out in a judicial court and let a judge decide if they did the right or wrong thing. At the moment it's still secretive so nobody knows what really went on, what laws they subverted, whose listening in to what etc. All we see is a bunch of corrupt right-wing fuckers seemingly making decisions that have rightfully or wrongfully killed off hundreds of thousands of people and made hundreds of new secretive laws affecting everyone in the entire free world, including me. All the while profiteering from every unpopular move they made! Put it all out there, let the public know exactly what they've done and why they've done it and let a judge, or judges in an international court decide if what they did was in everyones future interest. Then, if they did the wrong thing, throw them in jail or put them to death If they did the right thing, set them free and leave them alone. At least then you'll be seen to have done something about people that many in the world, including me, believe are serious war criminals getting away with the most henious of crimes.
Not that it matters to any one of these liberal nutjobs. I have to agree with Savage. Liberalism is a disease.....one that needs treatment.
I think its way to early to determine his performance so far when none of his policies or actions have been fully felt. I'll hold my judgement off for another two years.
